With 88,000 downloads sold and a whopping 22.8 million streams its first full week of availability, The Weeknd‘s newest tune – ‘Starboy’ – has zoomed from its debut spot of #40 last week to #3 this week. The Daft Punk-assisted number may even see higher heights next week thanks to a much talked-about live premiere via ‘SNL’ last weekend (watch that here if you missed it).
Yet, while the ‘Earned It’ crooner and co. celebrate their victories, there’s one singer who probably isn’t in the most celebratory mood – Lady Gaga. That’s right, after ‘Perfect Illusion’ – the lead single from her 5th album ‘Joanne’ – made a moderate #15 debut three weeks ago, the tune plunged out of the top 40 the next week. And, while fans were hopeful the song’s video would help hoist it upward, this week has proven the exact opposite. Yep, it’s now dropped out of the top 50!

Starboy is mediocre at best. Lady Gaga isn’t resonating with the public at all. Hopefully she releases something that radio likes. Not everyone can be Beyonce and not have any hits and still survive. Looking forward to the Superbowl.

It’s not because streaming isn’t cheap or easy it’s because the GP isn’t interested in the song, regardless of rather or not something is free or not people actually have to still like it or see use for it in order to want to have it, some people see enough value in stuff to purchase it, some people see enough value in something to take time out to download a free app and stream it and some people don’t see value in it at all and just ignore it.
