Mary J. Blige Hits #1 With ‘Thick Of It’ On Urban A/C Radio

It appears there are upsides to being in the ‘Thick Of It’ for Mary J. Blige.

The crumbling of  the R&B royal’s marriage to Kendu Issacs has been a fixture in the media – specifically their bitter divorce.

With MJB maintaining a dignified silence of sorts, she’s left her feelings on wax and it’s making waves at radio. Literally.

Full story below…

As at writing, ‘Thick’ has climbed to #1 on Urban Adult Contemporary radio in the US.

Since its release early this month, the track has amassed an audience of 13.638 million audience  from 1896 spins at the format as of October 30th.

Its out of the gate success comes as quite the coup for the campaign for Blige’s new album ‘Strength Of A Woman’ (due in December). Especially as there’s still its video to come.

We’re loving the track and glad to see it’s winning at this stage.

Glancing at Mary’s tour schedule, it’ll be interesting to see what the plan is promo wise. She’s touring arenas, with next to no breaks, right up until mid-December. A move that’ll no doubt prove lucrative, but one that does leave questions about available platforms to plug the LP so close to Christmas.

In the here and now, though, go Mary!

It would’ve been epic if it was a duet with Jazmine

@ [purple heart] have you heard ‘we gonna make it?’–Jazmine and Mary sound good together.

Jazmine should have just kept it for herself. knowing what her voice would have done on this makes me feel underwhelmed when I listen to Mary j.–But she still sounds good though.

AGREE!!! Tamar Braxton would have murked this track… Keyshia Cole would’ve gave life to this like Trust and Believe.
