What? Predictions (hate them) say he will barely sell more than Bruno? Or Gaga? I mean real sales. This just proves he is a streaming force atm, but after all the hype and all these people claiming he is better than Bruno or that he was going to destroy him sales wise… this just looks good and normal. I don´t think he has Bruno´s longevity btw. So even in this occasion (Bruno´s probably less commercial effort and Abel´s biggest moment to date) Bruno may end selling more.
Congrats to The Weekend cause this is damn good. But it´s just sad how people want to always tear someone down. In 3 years time it will probably be Abel the one being called “old news” and tired by some people (often people who don´t really care about talent and music).

Abel is talented, Since his trilogy days, He has done very well for himself, he unique in that he combines Michael Jackson vocals with hard gritty songs about s**, addiction, love etc.. and now he is crossing over. The new age has come Greatest Grandmasuasurus, So called Longevity does not only apply to people with saxophones in their music.

I listened to the album with a blunt and it’s simply ALRIGHT. I feel it coming, Secrets, and All I Know are certified bangers. While Rockin With You, and Love To Lay fell flat for me. As a whole, the album becomes redundant and is too trendy for longevity. I’ll give it a 6.7/10

200k is very much a flop. No hit single, not single sales, no outstanding streaming, no radio play and as of now, no tour. So where is the success? Because Anti sold 1.3M, one of the highest streamed albums ever so far, 3 1 million singles sold, successful tour and I didn’t add the Samsung check. Gaga?

Why are people trying to drag him? Fourth highest opening in pure sales this year after Drake, Beyoncé, and Metallica. All three were mainstream way before Abel, lol. Plus HDD’s first estimates are always low so he’ll probably end up topping 400K SPS.
Love the album and the 80s comic/video game aesthetic he is going for this era.

Bruno is a better singer/artist, but Abel’s album is better than Bruno’s. Bruno’s album was good, but this right here is great! Maybe album of the year, and this coming from someone who was not a huge fan of Abel before this.

This album is great!
I can’t believe that I enjoyed it so much, almost every song is great, even the ones with Future are good! I didn’t think this album would be good, this is better than Bruno’s album, even though Bruno has a much better voice! Even with 18 tracks, the album does not get boring. I’d even like a few more tracks. I think this sound fits The Weeknd best, this is his most consistent project yet. Definitely one of the best albums of the year, this album made me an Abel fan finally. His older projects were too inconsistent and his voice sounded weird over that type of music.
9.5/10 from me, keep it up Abel!
Even if you don’t like him, you have to admit that he is the biggest artist out right now. Plus he’s got both urban radio and pop radio so he’s everywhere. And I don’t mind it this time, since the music is actually really good! Unlike other chart toppers who’s albums were huge letdowns (yeah Drake, I’m lookin’ at you!) or albums who were all over urban radio despite being total trash and lack of any musical qualities (Yeah Rih, I’m talking to you!)
Abel is doing what Zayn’s album was supposed to do (lack of promotion and radio play), and what Miguel will hopefully do next year.

Better than Bruno’s album, by far. Bruno is still great, but this was just a much more complete and consistent body of work. Bruno’s album was so short, I’ve waited longer for a seat at a restaurant than it took to listen to 24K Magic! I mean Bruno, how you gonna be gone for four years and come back with a 9 track album! Lol, still a great singer/artist though!
I go excited thinking he accomplished something but only to find out it’s a stream illusion lol. I’m not hating on streaming as much as I used to..but I will always have more respect for the units that are sold with actual hard-earned money rather then streams *shrugs*
That was exactly my point. After seeing these (predicted) numbers I was quite shocked that he will barely sell more than Bruno or Gaga. Streaming is hype more than anything. If he is able to do 200k copies more than Bruno or Gaga based on streams then he sure should move way many more real units than them. And it´s not the case judging by these predictions. Streaming is the new way to measure hype 🙂

200k units first week is a good number. There´s no more to it. Haters were wishing for less than 100k. Some have still not recovered. Instead of seeing it from your point of you you can also see it the other way: DESPITE not having the support of a hit single (difficult with that type of material) or streaming, it STILL sold what everybody else not considered a flop sells nowadays 🙂
200k tops is not, it’ll maybe get to 300k. Still a flop for an artist on a major label. No matter how you try to turn it. If it’s can’t sale the first 4 weeks, then it’s not going to after that. Deal.
