Looks like ‘Karma’ singer Alicia Keys’ anti-makeup campaign has finally come full circle, if her February spread in ‘Allure’ magazine is anything to judge by.
In what (reportedly) comes as her first editorial wearing makeup since Spring 2016, the songstress took to the fashion mag to dish on everything from president elect Donald Trump to women’s rights, activism, and even played a fun game of “would you rather?” (featuring names such as Beyonce, Solange, Tupac, and more).
Tuck in below to see more photos from the afro-centric shoot and see behind the scenes footage as well:
Her bs makeup free movement was dumb cos her stylist actually admitted she uses a ‘little bit’ of makeup to make the ‘natural look’. People got bored of her music cos she looks like an African aunty the way she dresses and it ain’t cute! She shoulda just put on some makeup, a new wig and slayed us with the element of freedom pt 2
Maybe “As I Am”, but not “Element of Freedom”.
So many different looks…from urban, industrial chic…to Miss Celie realness lol
What happened to Alicia because her album came and went and honestly since TEOF the masses have kind of abandoned Alicia and her craft.
Her hair is cute, but it’s a shame her album underperformed.
Love her.
I wonder what is wrong with looking like an ‘African aunt?’ Africans are not ashamed of who they r. I’m African I don’t feel inferior to any race, atleast I know where I come from…
And you know what – I’m sure that comment was not a slight against you – Alicia Keys is a muti million award winning global artist. Whilst the risk she took to go natural and highlight the biases in the industry was brave – the industry (and public) is not checking for someone who can’t bring the visual and stylistic aesthetics associated with being a commercial success. There is bias, that is a fact, but it’s also a fact that the image she came with was never going to see her being a No.1 selling crossover artist as she was before.
all imma say is “lol”
Alicia is a pretty girl.., she doesn’t need make up. I will applaud anyone who helps to move girls away from that full face contour and Instagram Eyebrow mess that has become the norm. I can see both arguments though, in that audiences look to these artists in an aspirational way so a lack of makeup can be viewed as a lack of effort or worse a criticism of making an effort in general. That said, there is no reason a female artist should always be caked in the stuff, a natural look is welcome sometimes.
Nice style
