Black Twitter had a thing or two to tell ‘And I’m Telling You’ singer Jennifer Holliday after the official announcement that she would be performing at president elect Donald Trump‘s inauguration next week.

Holliday, a stage and recording star best known for her portrayal of ‘Effie’ in the original 80’s stage version of ‘Dreamgirls’ (alongside Sheryl Lee Ralph as ‘Deena’ and Loretta Devine as ‘Lorrell’), came under fire for what is being perceived as her support of the president elect.

But, just as the e-battering began to reach its height and gay fans called for a boycott of her music, the singer’s publicist stepped forward to announce there has yet to be an official commitment from the singer to perform…

The announcement from the publicist follows OFFICIAL reports from Trump’s camp that Holliday was on board.  Keep it locked to That Grape Juice as this story develops.

People really need to get a life….

    • Stop it . January 13, 2017

Why do they need to get a life again? For staying their opinion just like you did? Oh okay.

      • Jasmine January 13, 2017

They need to get a life because they are dragging people’s names on twitter when they did nothing wrong. This is like the 4th article about black artists performing for Trump that were never even booked in the first place. Flo’ Rida and R. Kelly already had to dispel these fake rumors. Who is next?

The problem with this is the notion that anyone can be bought and when African Americans (minorities) learn how to stand together united and not allow this we will really realize our true worth and be respected for it. I know it can be rough out here but this is far bigger than all that, we’re at an extremely pivotal time where we can go forward or backwards, it’s extremely important that we stand together!!!!!! This is not a democrat or republican thing this is about human dignity and our rightful place at the table of life.

Sweetheart, they need to get a life because they continuously sit in front of their laptops waiting to “drag” people whether stories are factual or not. People who have actual lives don’t do things like that.

THIS Is NO SHADE, But All The Irrelevant Artists Should Jump On Board & Say They’re Performing At The Inauguration So They Can Get A Little Buzz! This Is Also No Shade, But Azealia Banks Is Perfect For The Inauguration!

This lady makes the ugliest faces ever when she sings (screams). I be dying!

No African American or any woman should want to participate in the Trump inauguration as he has disregarded and disrespected African Americans and women to ignorant levels. But hey everyone has to do what they feel is best for them. If this is true I hope that Jennifer Holiday can handle the outcome of this situation.

So you are saying it would have been better to perform for Hilary, who was behind the mass imprisonment of thousands of African Americans?

      • iamdiego January 14, 2017

Exactly I don’t see what the big deal is. If Trump wanted to be petty he would just play the CD version of Whitney’s National Anthem and keep it moving. The Problem with black ppl is that we rarely think on our own. Why wait until everybody else jumps on board. If you sing…GO SING. F*** the internet/twitter trolls. At the end of the day they will still be watching (giving this bland ass inauguration the best views in history). Everybody’s so political now, but still don’t want to talk about the real problems in our communities. They never come to the hood. In the words of MJ they don’t really care about us. How many Flint water charity concerts booked (they still have old ass lead filled pipes)? Why don’t we wanna know what cancer causing chemicals in our food? Why did black ppl let obama leave office without doing a damn thing for his own community as a black man?

And We’re Telling You, You’re Not Going!

People need to calm down. Its 2017. Your jobs wont be providing insurance for pre conditions soon even if you have insurance. Some of you kids also won’t be able to be on your parents insurance soon. People tweeting but the Republican Party is voting for these things and are currently winning 51 to 48 I believe. ‘I have notice that ever since trump became president black people have been going against each other.. Trump is president but presidents don’t hold all the power. ‘Most people only vote during the presidential election sadly. Honestly I wouldn’t blame some folks for wanting thinking about this. Their fans not buying their music and they have to make a living. Inauguration performances probably pay a lot. And smh at folks talking about boycott her music as if they were supporting her before this.

It doesn’t matter how much an inauguration performance is, the way he talked about woman, Latino black ppl etc no black person even watch that nor participate.
Trump will and tear us a part and I pray we minority’s will not fall for it.
    We are stronger together.

Nobody cares! Y is everyone stressed? Dragging people for being invited to sing will not NEVER change the fact that Trump is President and an overwhelming majority of americans voted for him. If you want to be mad, be mad at that!

    • iamdiego January 14, 2017

Majority Americans voted for Hillary actually. There is a thing called the Electoral College.
