Michael Jackson‘s new “biopic” has been shelved.

Sky, the British channel who were to air the biopic as part of their ‘Urban Myths’ series, have decided not to air it after Michael’s daughter Paris Jackson spoke out against it.
I’m so incredibly offended by it as i’m sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit.
After learning this, the company released the following statement:
We have taken the decision not to broadcast Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon, a half hour episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series, in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family.
“We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events and never intended to cause any offence. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.
When fans learned that Fiennes was to play Jackson in the later years of his life, the actor defended the move by arguing that Jackson’s skin tone was closer to his than of an African-American.
His skin probably [became] closer to my colour than his original colour. I’m a white, middle-class guy from London… I’m as shocked as you may be.
That’s good. The trailer and story line were wack.
He was white though. So they want a blaque male/female to paint their face blaque instead?
Blacks come in an array of colors… including off white shorty.
So who should play him? He didn’t die as a black man with black skin.
Exactly my thinking. We all know MJ was ‘Black’ by birth, but he was definitely not black (skin tone-wise) when he passed.
Surely it would look extremely odd, and be less realistic if someone on like, say, Idris Elba or Will Smith was playing the role?
The show did look crap though, so I am not going to lose sleep over it
The fact they chosed any random white actor who did not resemble mj is the bigger issue. It look more as if they were mocking his looks while the other cast members looked like who they were portraying. They were making fun of him and not trying to honor him and his legacy. E’casnova is a mj impersonator who could play mj. Or navi, who also does the same thing. It was lazy casting imho
You can’t replace DNA, Mike was still black and proud.
MJ did look very odd, if we are being honest with ourselves, so I don’t think the casting is that ‘off’ personally.
To the comment above, I agree you cannot replace DNA, but I struggle to see that he was proud, otherwise, why change in the first place. The point still stands that if a black actor had been cast, it would have been even more odd, and not realistic

Exactly, DNA is DNA. Just because you don’t have black skin because of a disease or anything doesn’t mean you’re not black and for a show that suppose to be based on “true” events, it is NOT TRUE THAT MICHAEL JACKSON WAS WHITE!
Good. The show looked crap and MJ needs to just be left in the dead. Also, Elizabeth too. Stop making movies (money) outta these dead people. It’s disrespectful and just plain weird.

This movie wasn’t a biopic, it was a comedy.
Which is something the creators should have expressed in the beginning. That and it was only going to be shown in London

The fact that they got a white man playing him is pure jokes. That man is not white don’t care how he looked. His DNA is black
I was on the fence about this. Didn’t care much for the guy being white but what pissed me off is that the guy looks a mess. Furthermore it’s a 30 minute comedy. The plot is really good actually. They already offended everybody, I think they might as well let it run. It might turn some folks around.
But Michael looked a mess too, that man ruined his face.

This man used plastic surgery to turn himself White, permed his hair to be White, had children through serrogacy and s**** from a White man to have White children and his WHITE daughter is touched that he’s not being portrayed as Black. It is really strange to me that folks dont have a sense that a black person can be lighter skin as well as darker skinned. So it is offensive to have a caucasian play an african american in a biopic the same waybit would have an african american play a caucasian. If they cared about michael jackson’s legacy and knew anything about human decensy they would have respecte him enough to have a lighter skinned black character. In the end if they didnt do their due diligence it means they did not care.
You and the others sound ridiculous. It’s one thing to be a fan, it’s entirely something else to be this delusional. You’re not going to find ANY black person alive that you could make resemble Michael with just make up, except maybe an albino. But then the nose and other strange features Michael GAVE HIMSELF comes in to play. Michael Jackson was a talented man with deep deep deep issues people refuse to acknowledge…he wanted to be white. He wanted to be white. He wanted to be white. He was not a proud black man
