Chart Check [Hot 100]: Migos Maintains Control With ‘Bad & Boujee’

Published: Thursday 2nd Feb 2017 by Rashad

Rap trio Migos’ inaugural chart-topper, ‘Bad & Boujee,’ is proving itself no fly-by-night hit.

Flown to the top of charts (like its predecessor ‘Black Beatles’ by Rae Sremmurd) thanks to a viral response on social media, ‘Bad’ can also thank some serious streaming and fair digital sales for keeping it atop the charts for a 3rd non-consecutive week.

Billboard reports:

“The track tops the Streaming Songs chart for a fifth week with 47 million U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 26, according to Nielsen Music. It also leads the audio subscription services-based On-Demand Streaming Songs chart for a fifth week (19.7 million on-demand clicks).

“Bad” rebounds 4-3 on Digital Song Sales (51,000 downloads sold, down 25 percent) and jumps 27-23 on Radio Songs, gaining by 20 percent to 49 million in airplay audience.”

So happy for trap music and blakc music in general. If blk people support blk music we get a no1!! That is a win for all black artists.. Who would have thought 4 years ago trap music would be taking over the charts!

    • Casual February 2, 2017

So very true. I also credit the inclusion of streaming to the resurgence of black music in the upper reaches of the Hot 100. Bad and Boujee is just now reaching #23 in airplay after having already hit #1 overall. Chart success is driving airplay.

Big ups to Love On The Brain. I see JT refuse to die still, and Hollywood is paying for I Don’t Wanna Live Forever now.

    • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy February 2, 2017

Yes! Hollywood is paying for that garbage ass song. It’s so basic, and I expected much better from both! How do you go from Love Me Like You Do and Earned It to that?

  4. King B February 2, 2017

Didn’t expect Bad Things to peak that high tho. Could be number one.

    • MusicFan103 February 2, 2017

I didn’t either but doubt it will reach number 1 its really old by now and it would need a big boost to go number 1 and with Grammy’s near… I don’t see it happening.

  5. Kayla C February 2, 2017

Love on the Brain is coming.

  6. Lana Del Fan February 2, 2017

I don’t like rap music like this but BAD AND BOUJEE IS MY ISH. lmfao I’ll be a thot thot THOT for quavo. He’s S E X Y to me.

  7. Beyoncé Jackson February 2, 2017

    Alesia Cara is silently slaying.

  8. B_Roni February 2, 2017

Rihanna needs to release a video asap. That. song would shoot to the top 5. This album is my favorite from her. S** with me is also #85 on the chart.

  9. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy February 2, 2017

All we need is a damn video for Love On the Brain. Why is Righ so anti visual with this era?

  10. Molly #Stargirl February 2, 2017

LOTB deserves to be #1 drop the video already Rihanna.

  11. Belladonna February 2, 2017

I know you guys on here don’t like IDontWantToLiveForever but I like it a lot & can’t wait to see the movie. It will be interesting to see where Taylor and Zayn goes next week since there video views & downloads goes in tonight. The song was number1 on iTunes for most of this week and the video has over 39million views from both of there Vevo pages. And we can’t forget about the week when the movie comes out.

    • MusicFan103 February 2, 2017

It grew on me, but I don’t care for Taylor Swift on it. She doesn’t sell s** to me so its awkward for her on s3xy songs or themed music just like “Wildest Dreams.” I can’t buy it on her.

I would have liked a better duet partner OR solo Zayn song TBH. Even if she wrote it.

  12. MusicFan103 February 2, 2017

I can’t with the Migos song. Its just not good music IMO to my ears. I can pass on it. I prefer “Black Beatles” and I hardly care for that song but can see how thats a bit catchy.

“LOTB” is doing surprisingly well as a sleeper hit, why not video Rihanna? Get another Top 10. If she performed at Grammy’s and dropped a video it could go #1. That would be a great feat for her and it being a ballad with throwback influences.

  13. J February 2, 2017

Good to see so many Black artists! Now if only R&B would make a comeback. Trap music is the current fad like EDM was a few years ago.

I predict R&B and Rock will make a comeback soon. It’s been gone long enough and usually the opposite of whatever is popular becomes hot a few years later. That chart was looking real whitewashed a few years back lol I digress though…

  14. RhiRocks February 2, 2017

Omg I’m happy with what ever stops snake swift going no1 with that mess of a song IDWTLF
