Major! Jay Z Named First Rapper Inducted Into Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame

Jay Z already has one of the most illustrious careers in music and an amazing new page is being added to his narrative.

The rapper turned media mogul is set to be honored at the Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame.

In receiving the salute, the Roc Nation and TIDAL titan becomes the first rapper ever to feature in the prestigious ‘Hall.

His presence comes on the heels of the huge deal with Sprint he recently inked.

The Class of 2017 was announced moments ago and also includes Max Martin, Kenneth “Babyface” EdmondsBerry Gordy, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Chicago’s Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera.

Speaking on this year’s entrants, SHOF Chairmen Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, along with  President Linda Moran released a joint statement saying…

“The songwriters we honor cross genres, regional and even national boundaries—R&B, rap, pop and rock & roll from both coasts, the American heartland and Sweden. We are thrilled to once more have the opportunity to preside over an event that recognizes the convergence of song craft and musical performance at the very highest level.” [Source]
