First Listen Review: DNCE & Nicki Minaj – ‘Kissing Strangers’

Published: Thursday 13th Apr 2017 by David

Friday April 14th will deliver DNCE’s latest single ‘Kissing Strangers‘, lifted from their forthcoming album.

Fortunately, fans of the Pop force and their collaborator Nicki Minaj won’t have to wait until then before learning about what the upbeat cut has to offer.

A TGJ exclusive below…

Following the unleashing of their widely successful ‘Cake by the Ocean’, the group seek victory in similar sonic territory with ‘Strangers’.

Just as titillating as ‘Cake’, the cut see Joe Jonas explore the difficulties in finding true love in a world in which the emotion is fleeting and declare that he’ll spend his time ‘Kissing Strangers’ until he finds the one.

Kissing strangers, ’til I find someone I love/ Kissing Strangers, ’til I find someone I trust.

Its hook, which sticks to the formula behind ‘Cake’s glory, comes armed with many an infectious moment and, as it should do, stands as its strongest moment until Minaj arrives with a verse which sees her do more of the same lyrically, but offer one of her best contributions to a Pop cut to date by way of her flow.

I got a lot of sons, I can show you all the sonograms/ Me I’m Jem and these witnesses are holograms.

Our score of the cut? 7/10.

Will you agree when the cut arrives tomorrow?

IMO since Remy Ma slaughtered her in “ShETHER” anything she puts out sounds the same!! ??‍♂️

I love Nicki but why all these collabs? She’s coming off as desperate. Quality over quantity please, give us one monster quality verse a year rather than 800 verses that sound like they were written in 7 seconds.

How’s is She Coming Off Desperate? This Has Nothing To Do With Shether, This Is The Same Formula Nicki Has Been Using Since Her Debut Album! Y’all Just Looking For A Reason Too Hate Nicki

Nicki been doing collabs since she came out, it builds anticipation for her album. Hell it’s also a check in her pocket. Would I like more than a cute 16 on a track, yes. To me Some verses are not necessarily disappointing but just not memorable. Idk how this song will go but they said Side to Side would flop but it’s double Platinum, I’ll wait till this drops to make my own opinion.

The formula been tired. Lmao Barbz never keep it 100. How many pop entertainers’ waves must she ride to be relevant? All the Way Up is also 2x plat so Side to Side should’ve been way bigger being a pop record. Nicki is fading so these collabs do come off desperate. Plus she raps about ha sons again…y’all get so turnt over mediocrity. It’s cool she likes coin but this just proves Remy right. She’s a worker, not a boss!

“Following the unleashing of their widely successful ‘Cake by the Ocean’, the group seek victory in similar sonic territory with ‘Strangers’.” ?

Do any of you fools from TGJ realize they already had a full-length debut album after “Cake By The Ocean” and this is apparently from their second album?
