Katy Perry Unfollows Migos On Instagram

Published: Wednesday 24th May 2017 by David

Katy Perry seems to have lost a friend in the Hip-Hop firestorm that is Migos.

Why we think this is the case? She unfollowed them on Instagram.

Hours after they performed their collaborative cut ‘Bon Appetit’ on ‘Saturday Night Live‘, the acts were rocked by critics who slammed Katy for agreeing to pull drag queens out of the performance after learning the group did not want to perform alongside them.

Shortly after battling a tsunami of insults thrown at her by members of the LGBT community online, the fun-loving Pop star unfollowed the ‘Versace‘-sporting group on Instagram.

Their respective fan bases then realised that Migos had returned the favour by unfollowing Katy.

As it stands there is still no proof that the rappers had the drag acts booted from the performance.

this era is a mess…she’d better think idol for the save.

    • Monica May 24, 2017

Katy NEEDS to watch her mouth. SHE INSULTS BRITNEY, Mariah and Taylor. She throws SHADE at 3 POWERFUL fan bases and wonders why she’s FLOPPING

  2. JJ May 24, 2017

Good. She should’t have worked with that ghetto trash anyway. They’re a horrible representation of black men.

    • gina May 24, 2017

doesnt matter who she worked with, her white trash asss is flopping all over the place anyway.

      • JJ May 24, 2017

And they’re still ghetto trash and horrible representations of black men. Try supporting better black men or at least ones that don’t gloat about violence and degrading women.

    • Jasmine May 24, 2017

That is a very idiotic / somewhat racist comment. Katy is white trash. So it is okay for white trash to use black people but the black people are labeled “black trash” when they do not go along with everything the white trash employer says? COMPLETE NONSENSE.

      • JJ May 24, 2017

I didn’t call them “black trash.” READING IS FUNDAMENTAL. I am a black man and they represent the worst of us – they come off as ignorant, misogynistic, homophobic, and purveyors of drug and street culture. I heard them in interviews before and they can’t even hardly speak a straight sentence. If they weren’t rappers, they would probably be on the streets helping to destroy black communities, especially with all that garbage that they talk about in their lyrics. One has a verified criminal rap sheet. In my opinion, they are ghetto trash.

@JJ You need reading comprehension lessons and to get over idiocy. This is a direct quote from you:

“Good. She should’t have worked with that ghetto trash anyway. They’re a horrible representation of black men.”

Anyone with a grade school education can clearly see you are calling Migos black trash and stating Katy Perry is superior to them from your comment. You are a black person who has self-prejudice against other black people and clearly value white trash as superior to black people. I do not know Migos personally, nor do I listen to their music but know they are young rappers likely making more money than you ever will in your life. Grow up, get educated, and stop being delusional. People are people and music acts are simply that…an act that makes money off of the music industry. For example, Jay-Z, Biggie, and Nas all rapped about selling drugs, banging women, and using drugs. Were they doing all that stuff concurrently while rapping? No. Why? Because it was all an act. They were rapping about stuff they may (or may not have done) to make money…ie…an act. Once you get over yourself, get over your idiocy, and realize that you being gay does not define you…you will see how small-minded your current mindset is.

Don’t project your inability to read correctly upon me. You read wrong and jumped the gun. Now you want to go on a rant to personally insult me. I’m far more educated and respectful of black people than the Migos will ever be. I said they were “Ghetto trash” not “black trash.” “Black trash” is your choice of words. Maybe you feel like ghetto trash yourself and I struck a nerve. And I’m not gay. Lol. Where the hell did you get that from? But every article that uncovers homophobia, here you are as “Jasmine” to be a misguided little internet troll to the gays. Jay-Z and Biggie admittedly sold drugs, so clearly you haven’t been paying attention to hip-hop. Take this advice: log off this fledgling site, stop defending ghetto black men, and do better for yourself because by reading your comments, you need all the help you can get.

      • Jasmine May 24, 2017

@JJ Reading comprehension entails more than reading words literally. Reading comprehension entails knowing the meaning of words (do you know what concurrently means?), reading between the lines, knowing when something is implied, and connecting the dots. I did not “read wrong” or “jump a gun.” The term “ghetto trash” is synonymous with “black trash.” I stand behind everything I said to you and about you. You can be pissed about it but I am not going to backpedal. I will comment on any article I write and on any article on any site I feel like. I have plenty of gay male friends so I know when a gay man is letting his gay cattiness get the best of him and I feel that is what is going on with you. You can deny it all you want but I do not know any straight black men that labels male rappers “ghetto trash” and comments on “every article that uncovers homophobia” like you do.

      • JJ May 24, 2017

Hey call it what you want. I don’t find anything wrong with people that are gay so I’m not insulted by that. It just simply isn’t true for me. Again, you jumped the gun. My opinion remains that the Migos are horrible representations of black men and are ghetto trash. If you think “ghetto trash” is synonymous with “black trash,” then for you, “ghetto” must be synonymous with “black.” That seems somewhat racist to me. Calling out homophobia, misogyny, and drug culture is the right thing to do so if you feel the need to defend yourself or others (that you admitted you didn’t know personally) against statements like “ghetto trash” and “homophobic,” you or they just might fit the bill. Today you just witnessed an articulate and educated straight black male call three bad representations of black males “ghetto trash” online. Whether you wanna learn to read correctly and accept that has nothing to do with me.

      • Jasmine May 24, 2017

We can agree to disagree and move on. I find pretentious people that feel a need to say they are “articulate and educated” over and over are usually in need of validation. Based on your grammar I would say you probably have a little bachelor of arts degree which is great on its own, but nothing to brag about and certainly nothing to make one feel superior to another human being. Also, nice try at twisting my words but you fail because a truly educated person knows that when you take words out of context it has no merit. I give you a C+ for trying it though. I guess I will see you on the next homo miss thing. Until then good bye.

      • JJ May 24, 2017

        Again, jumping the gun.

        B.A. History w/ a Sociology Minor
        M.A. African American Studies

Currently pursuing my Ph.D. in History.

Only validation I need is from my dissertation committee. Again, Migos are horrible representations of black men.

You’re “homo miss thing” language just solidified my point. It appears you are homophobic and need all the help you can get. .

  3. Vandrea May 24, 2017

    So unfollowing is now news…

    • SMH May 24, 2017

Lol right, I mean seriously, did this even need a post?

  4. Jamie May 24, 2017

Oh well. They’re hot, she’s not. Tried to use, got abused. Also, people can’t get mad at them because they like p****. That’s the problem now. People don’t respect other people’s opinions and preferences.

    • Fresh Navi May 24, 2017

This is one of the most ironic things in life. People are bashing them NOT because they love p****, but because they DONT respect people who like the same s**. No one’s asking them to like it but rather to respect people’s pref and to be dismissive of drag queens was them uniquicolly saying they don’t reapect gay people, and it’s more so apparent because of their comments with Makonon but do continue to be ignorant and stupid.

      • Avi May 24, 2017

That’s stupid. They shouldn’t have to perform with drag queens if they would “prefer” not to. Wouldn’t that be considered a “preference” too? If so, then according to your genius logic, it should be respected. What if Rihanna did a guest collaboration with someone who wanted a juggler in the performance, but she wasn’t feeling it and said she’d rather not have that aspect there. Would you be screaming about her not respecting jugglers? Or would you be defending her if the other side complained? Please. You overemotional crybabies are taking this a little too much to heart. Acting like this is a throwback to the time you were called a sissy back in the 5th grade. Drag is a form of entertainment, some would argue an “art”. Who are you to demand that an artist be willing to incorporate a certain other type of art into their performance, if they’re not feeling it? That’s called imposition.

      • Jasmine May 24, 2017

Only small-minded and racist people think like that. First, there is no evidence Migos booted the drag queens from the stage (Katy booted them but because Migos are a black group they have to take the blame even though they had no power to boot anyone from Katy’s stage). Second, in life you have a choice who you work with and anyone (regardless of sexual preference) should have been CLEARED with both Katy and Migos before they were on the stage. Migos were setup to take the fall. Gay people should NOT be given special privilege. Drag queens do not represent all gay people (plenty of gay people want nothing to do with drag queens and would have booted them from the stage too).

  5. Ya May 24, 2017

Lol who cares i rather migos stand by their beliefs than be sellouts for a group of people who do nothing but bash people and talk s*** all day but want sympathy. Gay people esp gay whites are some of the most hateful racist people around but want support to throw their d**** around strait mens as dance where they do that at… lol gays are losing in 2017 because yall are becoming the very thing u say ur fighting agaisnt…And katy like the rest of these celebs r using u dumb f***s for sales go support a drag artist go support a gay artist stop forcing black artist esp to push this wack a** agenda its weak and desperate.

    • ronnoc May 24, 2017

It’s interesting that someone can generalize a group of millions of people (gays) for a certain behavior and get likes for it, but when someone generalizes another group of millions of people (blacks) there is outrage and they are deemed racist. Can we stop with all this stereotyping b*******?

  6. DanYiel Iman May 24, 2017

Isn’t the Migos apart of her stealing a part of the culture? Hmm..✌? ?

  7. Tina Lord Roberts May 24, 2017

Looking at these comments about this, you can pretty much tell who was coddled too much as a child, and seem to need social validation – even if it’s via situations that aren’t directly connected to them. I wonder if the same people screaming bloody murder would be half as bothered if it was reported that some drag queens didn’t want to work with some rapper.

Look, this was Katy’s stage. She was the one who had the final say, as to whether or not those drag queens would be part of the performance. Furthermore, Migos had every right to excuse themselves from said performance if she insisted on keeping with the original plan. Seems she was too afraid to perform the song without them, and so she relented. That’s on her. And Migos had every right to choose not to participate if they didn’t like the theme.

#ICANT at all the emotionally fragile narcissists in here acting like Migos just slurred them, simply because they didn’t want to perform with drag queens. Grow up.

  8. Ocean8 May 24, 2017

This era has been trash anyway.

She should just scrap it and start again

  9. Starxavi May 24, 2017

I just find it pretty ironic that this Versace donning rap group is so homophobic and they are getting their style and looks from gay people. The insecurity in the black community when it comes to being associated with anything gay is so old and tired.

    • Jasmine May 25, 2017

The desperate need for inclusion from many gays is what is “so old and tired”. A secure person is able to articulate who they want to be around or associated with. An insecure person is one that is desperate to be included.

  10. truthteller May 25, 2017

So she’s distancing herself from Migos only after she experiences a backlash? Says it all really. This really is shaping up to be her Artpop / Bionic era.

  11. Bobby Lite May 27, 2017

Another Culture Vulture, what’d you expect. Latch onto whatever is hot, get your billboard chart then cut all affiliation with them. Same s*** Miley did, when will the hip hop community learn smh..

  12. Good May 30, 2017

I hate this t***** acceptance era. So disgusting. Call me a homophobe. I don’t find that an insult. I wear that with no shame in these faggoty times.

    • SBC19 May 30, 2017

Co-sign. This degenerate gay s*** has gone way too far. Since when is it acceptable to put drag queens in a mainstream performance? That’s sick.

  13. Daniella August 15, 2022
