TLC’s Chilli On ‘Black Lives Matter’: “All Lives Matter”

Published: Wednesday 10th May 2017 by David

Chilli of the supergroup TLC has shared her thoughts on the ‘Black Lives Matter‘ movement during a recent interview built to support the group’s live show in the city of London.

Why her thoughts have rubbed many of the force’s fans the wrong way?

Watch…

The duo is currently gearing up for the release of their final studio album.

So, why are so many people against ‘All Lives Matter’ being a response to ‘Black Lives Matter’?

The Huffington Post explains:

The basic premise behind “All Lives Matter” = we should not highlight that black lives matter because all lives matter.

As it turns out, you’re not wrong: all lives do matter. But the problem with this premise lies in what goes unaddressed in your line of thinking.

See, “Black Lives Matter“ is trying to highlight that there is demonstrable evidence that black lives matter less than white lives to the criminal justice system (and the American government as a whole).

Do you agree?

Chilli is sensible and fair. All lives do matter and we as Black people need to show as much concern for the deaths of our people at the hands of our own people instead of just when the police do it. Martin Luther King would spin in his grave to see how race relations fell apart under Obama.

    • Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

      Kiss my a$$!

    • SMH May 10, 2017

Typical ignorant response. Are you seriously blaming Obama for non existent race relations “falling apart”? They never fell apart because they were never there. Black people were still being murdered by police & discriminated against in this country long before Obama took office. Obama’s Presidency EXPOSED the underlying racism that America was built on & tried to deny existed. The nly thing MLK is spinning in his grave over is how America turned his dream into a nightmare with their racist refusal to accept a black man in the WH.

With that said. TLC should be ashamed of themselves for supporting that racist ‘all lives matter’ bs.

“The nly thing MLK is spinning in his grave over is how America turned his dream into a nightmare with their racist refusal to accept a black man in the WH.”

Eh. Wasn’t he twice elected? Beating two white opponents, both of whom had had longer careers in politics than he had. People kill me pretending that Obama was some put-upon guy who could never catch a break while he was in office, when in reality he was probably the most popular and most media-propped president since JFK.

      • EllieLights93 May 10, 2017

Obama was a 2-term president & left with high approval ratings but America’s “racism” was exposed. LOL ok. The only thing that was exposed is that certain people are just never satisfied and will always complain about something!

    • Fancy BISH May 10, 2017

Should we have a #ChilliGettingDraggedByHerBabyHairsParty? I’ll bring fruit punch, cookies and napkins…Iyanla is bringing a cake that says BLM on it…Pebbles is going to sing Giving You The Benefit lol

    • Caleb May 11, 2017

Why do white people always think they can play the Martin Luther King card?

    • !Yup May 11, 2017

Black ppl don’t kill each other for being black. You c***. Do us all a favor and take a nap for the rest of the year!

  2. Nique May 10, 2017

    Keep it sis.

  3. Indie May 10, 2017

All Livers do matter though and I support the Black Lives Matter movement whole heartedly, however TLC have fans from all races and sexual background Chilli went on to point out that other minorities (LGBT, Orlando shooting) had also suffered with gun violence, I think she just wanted to be a voice for all of the people that support them because that’s what TLC stands for. By the way the TLC concert was FANTASTIC!!!!

      Hush h0

      • Indie May 11, 2017

        Suck your Momma!

  4. MikeK May 10, 2017

Typical ignorant rich nigueress attitude. She was starving and broke for a while after Left eye died. Now that she is back in front of the media, she is looking to start a controversy for the sake of it. Exactly like the gay men supporting trump or the blacks/asians/latinos walking at Alt-right marches. It’s sad, they don’t even believe what they preach but they are so desperate to create a controversy for the sake of it.

    • Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

      PREACH!!!!

  5. @Nate May 10, 2017

When people stupidly say All lives matter completly ignore the numbers that show black brutality and black death being higher than everybody else.

  6. Dee May 10, 2017

I dont get why people get so upset when celebrities say this because They’re speaking the truth. All lives do matter is not just black lives not just white lives, But its risk to say with all the controversy surrounding those 3 words its not something you wanna say when you have a new album coming out because it could give you the promotion you need but not in a good way .

    • Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

      Eat me bigot

  7. Fancy BISH May 10, 2017

LOVE Chilli…her voice reaches the SOUL…but she’s never been the BRAINS of the group lol

    • truthteller May 10, 2017

Agreed. I love Chilli too but I cringed at some of the things she came out with in What Chilli Wants. Also, there’s a big difference with whites saying “All Lives Matter”, as the people who say it are often doing so to belittle or trivialize the Black Lives Matters movement.

  8. AdrianL May 10, 2017

Black Lives Matter is an attention-seeking sham. Those dolts will bum-rush a supermarket grand opening, and start shouting that annoying catchphrase, just to be in the news. Getting in bed with them is like opening your door and letting in critters from outside.

    • Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

Your mom is being pimped by a black man. U mad?

      • AdrianL May 10, 2017

Your mom IS a black man. An ugly one at that. Didn’t you know? That genetic mutation eyesore that you call mother tucks those venereal diseased testicles under those deformed ham-shaped legs and only pretends to be female when the EBT card shows insufficient funds.

      • Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

        Boooooooo lolol! Lame…like havin s e x with u.

  9. SAVAGE_beast May 10, 2017

All lives matter…HOWever i only see them taking black lives.
Tlc just trying to sell their record girl bye

All Lives Matter : Racist Code Speak

  11. May 10, 2017

why should she get a pass, when other blacks say this they get dragged to hell.

  12. Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

Oh really Chilli?? I will NOT be buying this s***** cd. Let All Lives buy it!!

    • OQRAM May 10, 2017

LOL@you. Save the phony grandstanding. You weren’t buying it anyway.

      • Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

Yes i was. They were my favorite group

    • SMH May 10, 2017

Same here, i was looking forward to buying it. I’ll have to think about it now. Bet u Lisa wouldn’t be saying that ‘all lives matter’ dumb sh*t if she was still here.

      • Its me guwrl May 10, 2017

        Lisa would take a stand.

  13. SMH May 10, 2017

TLC has been my favorite girl group for the last 20+ years. and i have officially lost respect for them. “all lives matter” is racist bs propaganda created to diminish the clear fact that black lives don’t matter to this country. Save the bull. All lives aren’t being gunned down in cold blood by the thugs with badges, BLACK LIVES ARE. So until they do start killing all lives, STFU.

  14. BCinKS May 10, 2017

Whelp. There went their support from the black community (if anybody was actually checking for them anyway). If you can’t see the issue behind “All Lives Matter” you might need to take a deep look at yourself and the people around you. If you’re black and don’t see the issue, you probably let your non-black friends call you the “n-word” and y’all laugh about it. All lives do matter in the grand scheme of things, but using the statement as a response to “Black Lives Matter” is inherently racist.

  15. Highbrowthis May 10, 2017

They clearly needed Left Eye for that interview. Both of them sound like idiots. Also, please do not blame poor race relations on Obama. White People clearly couldn’t handle a black president and they chose to follow his legacy by voting for a hateful ill informed unqualified white man to run the country. A man that is electing racist bigoted discriminatory ideals. Don’t blame Obama. Look at your current President and the majority of white people who put him there. White people clearly don’t understand what’s needed for race relations and it’s not the job of black People to continually teach white people how to be human beings that accept equality for all.

    • EllieLights93 May 10, 2017

Obama wouldn’t have won TWICE without support from white voters.= and Trump wouldn’t have won AT ALL without additional support of minority voters. Yea his majority support was white men but they alone dont have the power to put a president in office anymore. If not for those additional women/blacks/hispanics/gays/others (few as they may have been individually) that Trump managed to lure to his side, he wouldn’t have been pushed over the line to the presidency. So hush on that “racist” rhetoric because its not as “black & white” (haha) as ur spinning.

      • Highbrowthis May 10, 2017

You clearly didn’t the numbers/breakdown for voter turnout. Minorities didn’t vote for that president. White voters voted for Trump and specifically white women. Just because America elected a black president does twice doesn’t mean a damn thing when you acknowledge the racist administration in that White House. The numbers don’t lie when 88% of African Americans voted for Hillary.

      • Highbrowthis May 10, 2017

So you hush and stop downplaying the racism as that argument was made when he was alerted and y’all are still trying to make that argument after white Supremacy was elected into that White House. Minorities didn’t ask for this and the small percentage you want to highlight clearly were not aware of the interest they should have or how to vote. So you can hush spin that to your favor with your shallow observations. No one is trying to make it about race though it so obviously is so stay in denial. That’s the American way and that for surely is they way this country has been lead by many of white people throughout history.

  16. Tina Lord Roberts May 10, 2017

If I were a celebrity, I would stay away from any _______ Lives Matter lines. Because no matter which one you get behind (BLM or ALM), somebody is gonna get bent out of shape.

  17. Whosbad May 10, 2017

A lot of stupidity in these comments. All lives matter was only created as a slogan to retaliate and create confusion amongst the black lives matters message. It didn’t exist before the black lives matter movement for a reason. It’s equivalent to an advocate for a cure for A*** walking into a rally to fundraise funds for cancer and screaming “what about our cause we matter too”. Plain ignorance. If everybody was so effected by police brutality and discrimination than everybody should have made an organization to fight it together, but no once black people decided to stand up for the young black man and woman in their community with an organization than all of sudden the conversation switches gears and motives are questioned in an attempt to discredit the message.

    • Fancy BISH May 10, 2017

      THIS comment is everything! Agreed!

    • Highbrowthis May 10, 2017

      Yep!

  18. Jasmine May 10, 2017

All lives matter but Chili’s opinion does not. She is an idiot just like Fantasia. Stick to dancing.

  19. eric May 10, 2017

She is 100% in the right to say all lives matter. It means that ALL racial groups should treat each other with respect. I don’t know how anyone can agree with the approach of “black lives matter” when it doesn’t target the fact that blacks are killing each other at more than 20x the rate of white police officers. If we really believe black lives matter, why aren’t we focusing on our own streets where most black lives are lost and at each other’s hands? White police officers have nothing to do with us killing each other each and every day. We always look to place blame rather than accept responsibility and own up to our own faults. Until we tackle that real issue, nothing will change in our communities and black lives will continue to be lost to senseless violence.

    • Caleb May 11, 2017

You are ignoring the systematic violence of the bloated and racist Amerikkkan penal system.

  20. DanYiel Iman May 11, 2017

I’m disappointed I Donated $10 for the album & I’m not a TLC fan, actually a proud DC3 ‘er & wanted to support there last humming of talent especially of T-Boz her tone is sensual & I love it…Chili is trying to get those Caucasian coins & “All Lives Matter” fit right into that situation…?

  21. Caleb May 11, 2017

    Why Chili why?!
