Tamar Braxton has promised her faithful #Tamartians a gem from her forthcoming album, ‘Bluebird of Happiness,’ every week until it’s due in full on September 29th. The latest of her promise has come in the form of the up-tempo, ‘Pick Me Up.’
Featuring a sizzling sample of Evelyn King‘s timeless 1982 groove, ‘Love Come Down,’ ‘Pick’ is undoubtedly a party-starter, a welcomed ode to Braxton’s love for old school music topped with her even more impressive vocal displays.

Admittedly, this is not something radio will eat up, but this is something that can get a house-party moving. From where we stand, it’s not the most adventurous outing from Mrs. Herbert, but it will most certainly fit very comfortably in her discography which – to date – has several numbers tinged with a bit of 80s/90s flair.
It’s clear that the youngest of the Braxton clan has a special place in her heart for the golden years of contemporary R&B and we ain’t mad at her. We rely on her to be the bridge, in so many words, between yesteryear’s best Urban sounds and today’s.
With ‘Pick Me Up’ she doesn’t let us down.
