Fleur East‘s time at Sony Music has come to an end.
Details below…
East was the runner-up on the eleventh season of the ‘X Factor UK‘ and signed to SYCO (a Sony subsidiary) shortly after to propel her solo career in the United Kingdom and overseas.
And initially, things looked promising. Her debut single ‘Sax’ scorched the European charts and earned her a US deal with Columbia Records.
However, it’s now been revealed that the 29-year-old has now revealed that she’s parted ways with the company.
A source told ‘The Daily Mail’…
Fleur had some great times with Syco but it was felt by both sides now was the time to go down different paths. She will always remain a friend of the label – because everyone’s really fond of her.
Fans are yet to learn of the gifted vocalist’s next move.
Everyone saw this coming, her album flopped and ‘Sax’ wasn’t huge as expected (I like, though it sounds too much like Uptown Funk).
Hope she finds her lane, she’s a good performer.
That is the problem with the industry they always want people to copy what already has been done or follow the blueprint of an established artist instead of allowing an artist to create their own path. It’s truly sad because there is a lot of talent but label do not know how to utilize it.
“Gifted vocalist”? She is a decent dancer and performer, but her vocals are probably her weakest area.
100% Agree
Agreed, she’s a strong performer with a lot of charisma and she’s likeable but she definitely has a ‘struggle voice’. She’ll do well fronting a corporate session band. I don’t see solo success in her future but I wish her the best.
she just said the other day that she was still with the label but this isn’t a shocker
