Janet Jackson has notably shunned interviews in recent years and let her performances do all the talking.
However, the singer seized the moment to break her (relative) silence during a visit to her hometown of Gary, Indiana.
Taking a brief break from her State Of The World Tour, Janet and brother Randy stopped by Roosevelt High School and sat down for a Q&A with students and staff.
During the intriguing chat, Miss Jackson open up about her love for Bruno Mars (as well as the potential for a collaboration) and son Eissa – who is now 10 months old.
Full story below…
On Bruno:
“I think Bruno Mars is very talented. There are a lot of “artists” out there, but then you have ARTISTS who you know are going to have a long career. And [Bruno] is definitely an ARTIST.
We live in London now. Randy and myself. We had the opportunity of seeing Bruno’s show out there not too long ago and we really enjoyed it. He’s not only a songwriter and musician; he has a great deal of charisma on-stage. And I’m always really proud and enjoy [watching him].
[As for a collaboration], Bruno and I have talked about it. That would be interesting”
On Son Eissa:
“Having my son is [my biggest accomplishment].
When you talk about knowing you can do it – obviously with God’s help, there’s nothing you can’t do. Every doctor told me it would not be possible, but I now have a beautiful, healthy, happy baby boy who’s now ten months.”

Fascinating chat and great to see Janet talking again. Her words and how she articulates make for an engaging watch. It’s also warming that she, effectively, gave her first “interview” in a long while via such a medium.
As for the collaboration with Bruno: yes, yes, and yes! Their respective sounds and performance styles compliment each other beautifully.
Can you imagine a collabo in the vein of an ‘Uptown Funk,’ ‘That’s What I Like,’ or ‘Versace On The Floor’ – the latter of which sounds very early Janet?! The choreography would be insane too.
Make…it…happen! Please and thanks.
Damn i cant see it….. upload it afain
Nice interview. I think her collaborating with Bruno is a good idea. She should also do more interviews like she used to do on tv.
I would be here for her collaborating with Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars.
Yup!!!
I wonder if the kids were told not to ask about SB or Timberlake, interesting seeing that was a trending topic. But I’m glad that wasn’t asked it was Janet and cute little girl on lap time, that was cute when the little girl ran and hugged Janet like she knew Janet and missed her!!!
I was wondering how on earth nobody thought to ask about that.
I’m tired of hearing about Justina on every Janet post. He was booked to do superbowl because of white privelege and not Janet because she is black so there is nothing new to talk about on that.
Janet, Madonna. Tina Turner. Mariah. Whitney, Gloria. All Icons
makeswonderfulmusic.
Need Janet Jackson to collab with Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar and Cardi B
Omg yes and Mariah should collaborate with Bruno too along with J. Cole and Drake on separate tracks.
If Mariah collaborated with any of them, the outcome would be “Triumphant” ??
Very cool! I’ve been wanting a collaboration between Janet & Bruno Mars. I don’t care for him by himself but, their sound can blend perfectly!
That would be awesome!
IMO, I don’t wanna hear her soprano tones collaboration with Bruno Mars…??♂️
Girl shut up and take your tired lame a$$ with that bs….U say the same thing over and over again. You don’t like Janet, we get it. Trust me she ain’t losing any sleep or a coin in your “IMO” about her! U just envy her obviously, that’s why you take the time out of your miserable life to state the same weak shyt!
Yes u do
Incredible peoples doing incredible Art. Do it!? Transcdentially fly; take us, with you. Los Angeles meets Honolulu, both beautiful, Soulful and now!!
Janet is so youthful and vibrant! I love that we finally got to witness a sit down with her after all this time, but I still need one proper interview in the near future! I’m not big on Bruno, but I think he’s one of the few artists today deserving of a collab with Janet! I feel new music is definitely on the horizon and I think Janet will deliver it soon! This was a cool interview, I always felt like I have a lot in common with Janet! I always agree with her views on any different topics!
Have always loved Janet Jackson and glad to see her back. Bruno Marrs is very entertaining as well. Would love to see them collaborate.
I would love to see a Janet Bruno collabo! They also would make a cute couple. You know I had to go there! Bruno in the past years has expressed a lot of love for Janet. As for the baby, Janet isnt like the average 49 or 50 year old woman so her getting pregnant was of no surprise. I’d like to see her adopt a little girl.
I would love to see Janet Jackson and Bruno Mars do music and performance together. That would be earth shattering.
