Remy Ma is finally ready to roll!
Fresh from the news that she’s signed a lucrative new deal with Columbia Records, the rapper has formally announced new single ‘Wake Me Up.’ And it features a special guest – veteran femcee Lil Kim.
The pair recently shot the video for the track and new reports suggest it may be a diss to their joint rival Nicki Minaj.
Find out why below, where set pics also await…
According to TMZ, the lyrics for the song include what some are decoding as subliminal shots at Nicki:
— “That crown I’m gon take that sh*t. Cause you a clown and homie don’t play that sh*t.”
— “I heard he lay that d***. You let them filet that fish. You just met him how he bae that quick?”
The latter being a reference to Onika’s rumored relationship with Nas.
Peep snaps from the video shoot:
While some may yawn at the notion of more back-and-forth following ‘Shether,’ the reality is that Rap (at its foundation) is competitive sport and all involved routinely assert their queendom.
So what better way to ascertain who’s truly at the top than sparring on wax?
There is a part of us that yearns for Remy to begin exploring other terrain (namely her time behind bars, social commentary, and fun turn up cuts). But for now, it kinda figures why she’d go this route.
For her sake though, it almost has to pay off.
