New Song: Remy Ma – ‘Wake Me Up (ft. Lil Kim)’

Published: Wednesday 8th Nov 2017 by Sam

It’s here!

Remy Ma has unleashed her solo comeback single, ‘Wake Me Up.’

The New Yorker teams up with legend Lil Kim, who takes on hook duties on the hard-hitting cut.

It serves as the first taste of her long-awaited sophomore album ‘Seven Winters & Six Summers’ – which is now due via Remy’s new label Columbia Records.

The cut follows the gargantuan success of Platinum jam ‘All The Way Up’ with Fat Joe and the Nicki Minaj diss heard around the world – ‘Shether.’

  6. Nah November 8, 2017

    OK so….
    1. so in the past 8 months you mean to tell me that you couldn’t save up some money and actually go and purchase beat
    2. this beat sounds like if it was made with a Nokia 1100
3.Why haven’t you worked on your flow you sound like a fat kid who missed the bus… late and Off beats

    • Your Mother November 8, 2017

You sound like a mad Nicky Stan. That beat is fiiiiiiirrrrrrreeeeee.

      • Nah November 8, 2017

I’m not a nicki Stan at all…. Trust me!!!

      • The Wig Snatcher November 8, 2017

She’s a Nicki stan who still feels burned by Shether.

      • DotDot November 8, 2017

Uhhh no its not its nothing new… Make new moves

      • Audreyherbsburm November 9, 2017

Y all are so basic. Get over this silly idea thay everything needs to be new or innovative. It just needs to be good. There really is nothing new under the sun. And it don’t make since for a hip hop fan to be bitching about what sounds new or radio friendly. Half, if not the majority, of y all ain’t hip hop fans though.

    • Credits November 8, 2017

You’re just a Nicki Stan who doesn’t even recognize the sample.

  8. The Wig Snatcher November 8, 2017

That’s a really good diss record, and I love the “Queen B*tch” sample. I also love that Remy is rapping in treble voice.

  9. Notyou November 8, 2017

How does Remy sound more like Kim than kim?

    • The Wig Snatcher November 8, 2017

She was payage homage. Read the interview, sis.

      • Notyou November 8, 2017

Obviously. But how does she sound more like Kim than Kim, on a track with Kim? basically, what I am saying is that Kim doesn’t even sound like herself anymore.

    • Portia November 9, 2017

Yo I thought I was bugging Kim sound off like her face can’t move if stiff or something

  10. DanYiel Iman November 8, 2017

  13. #TeamTinashe Stan (New Single “Me So Bad” Coming Out Soon) November 8, 2017

I did not look at the comments before listening because I really want to give Remy the benefit of the doubt. As soon as I pressed play I was like “Oh no, not the Mary J Blige sample” which made me really become more critical but as soon as Remy Ma started rapping I was HERE FOR IT!!!!
The whole entire time I was praying that Lil Kim wouldn’t rap because she isn’t the Kim we lost from 15yrs ago now but she did good on the chorus and thankfully only a 20 sec verse.
I’m gonna say this is a HIT and I’ll give it a 8.5/10 upon first listen.

Btw It ain’t a diss to ole girl. Nice try TMZ.

    • Slicc Loskii November 8, 2017

It was Kim Song Before Mary J Blige. Maybe U Should Go Listen to QUEEN B**** BY LIL KIM first the listen again and you will probably love it even more

      • Len November 8, 2017

Exactly!!! People trying to slide diss and it was Kim’s song that Mary sampled!!!

    • Its me gowrl November 9, 2017

      BITCHPLEASE!!! It’s Kim’s song. U ho!!

  14. Onion November 8, 2017

Nahhh this ain’t it. Tragic. Remy’s money showers verse >>> The hook + bridge garbage idk if Remy thinks she gets credibility from teaming up with Kim but like you once threatened to kill her and she called you a man so??? You also could’ve sampled Hardcore Kim or something instead of that autotune mess. This is so out of touch with what mainstream audience wants I just… Cardi still the only one giving Nicki competition for her crown

    • Notyou November 8, 2017

???? Thank you! Everyone seems to forget the entire diss record Remy wrote for kim “when I see her” she even accused Kim of being a w**** and having several STD’s in multiple interviews.

This whole collab just seems forced especially when considering the way that Remy came for Kim, and honestly it seems like remy just added kim to gain some buzz.

This was a good look for Remy because her flow and lyrics were on point but it makes Kim look really bad, the auto tune and lack of bars on this track will be very bad for Kim’s brand.

      • We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler November 8, 2017

        Nobody cares.

      • Nique November 8, 2017

If guys can beef, then makeup (which happens all the time) why can’t Kim & Remy?

    • i_Ronic92 November 8, 2017

THANK YOU!!! I FEEL THE EXACT SAME…. This song should not have been a single. Track on the album yes. SINGLE worthy… NAH!

    • audreyherbsburn November 8, 2017

who cares if it’s not radio ready. most of that s*** dumbed down anyway. this is hip hop and great bars and a great homage.

  15. LIL’ KIM BIRTHED YO FAVES November 8, 2017

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Queens are here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remy and the Queen Bee slayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Smokey November 8, 2017

  18. Meme November 8, 2017

Yas lord Jesus. I don’t like Remy but I’m all the way here for this. This is the year of the female rap.

  19. Meme November 8, 2017

Ok after 5 replays, I have to give my official review. The review of reviews.

    1. The production is everythong, cool and dre did there damn thing.
    2. I love how they kept it really urban and gutter, and didn’t try to water or pop it down.
    3. It’s a top 50 hit, maybe just maybe top 20 at most. I don’t feel like it’s as strong as I would hope. This just isn’t forward pushing enough, however they did do a good job.
    4. Kim IMHO brings the record down, she could have been left off, especially off the hook. That was trash.
    5. I LOVEEEE how Remy raps like vintage Lil Kim, it’s sounds amazing!

  20. NOBITCHASSNESS November 8, 2017

    Definitely a diss track.

“You owe homage pay that s***”

They’re smart to be using this old beat but nah, not here for this need to start up again.

  21. We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler November 8, 2017

Vh1 watch this you just got bodied by a love n hip hop b****!

  22. Faf November 8, 2017

Kim is singing in auto tune which is just dreadful why didn’t she just sing the same way she does on the original song?

Rem could’ve done three verses hers were too short

And it’s all subs but nothing clever or witty the same “you a h**, i kill b******, I’m stronger than you” s*** a 37 year old woman shouldn’t be hype about

    Kims song is better

    • Jhall November 8, 2017

I agree I thought remy would come better than that

  23. Gee November 8, 2017

Remy paid homage to Kim and she did it right. Also Remy gave a vintage Kim feel with her flow on the record. I think this record served its purpose. Great job ladies. When Veterans honor legends!!!

  24. ThaRealMrsPeterson November 8, 2017

No lie thought it would have been harder than this

  25. Jhall November 8, 2017

It’s ok I was really waiting for remy to go in but it’s ok I ! don’t see a hit thou to me its just ok ! Is it me our was people to remy come better than that? And im a remy fan but im not seeing wake do well at all?

  26. Electrikblue November 8, 2017

Why’d they have to use that beat though? And same flow as Kim?! Of course it’s a bop! Queen B i t c h is a boo the original song for those of you who are too young to know this song/beat isn’t new

  27. November 8, 2017

Not bad, i like the old school hip-hop beat and the hook.

  28. SayWhat? November 8, 2017

It’s cute for black people. It’s not a hit though.

    • Micki Ninaj November 8, 2017

      Your a w****

  29. Den November 8, 2017

The beat was fire. Love how Remy sounded like Kim. Her verses were hot with a great delivery.

That chorus was late. They coulda had a WAY better chorus than that. And Kim’s verse, or whatever that was, she sounded madd weird.

    Overall, a 3 out of 5.

  30. cocobutta November 8, 2017

Omg the Lil’ Kim swagger jackin heffa!!

I loved the flow using the original
    Queen B1tch beat & cadence.
Hook not so keen on and the auto-tune Lil’ Kim bridge part Id rather it not be auto-tuned.

Here for it overall because it’s not all about Nicki. ??

    • Fancy BISH November 8, 2017

You have to read between the lines! What’s the one thing Nicki never got to do because of her own jealousy and envy? Get on a song with Kim! Nicki got with Nas because of Shether and Remy was denied clearance for the Nas sample…but NOW Remy got the clearance from the woman Nicki is obsessed with…Kim! AND you know Queen B**** is THE record that Nicki can’t deny is pure fire from Kim…it’s so much going on with this song it isn’t even funny! Remy paid homage to the REAL Kim, not the Single Black Female Nicki lol ?

      • Caleb November 9, 2017

Nicki did have a song with Kim on Birdman’s 2009 album called “Grindin’ Getting Money.” They didn’t tell Kim Nicki would be on it though until after she recorded her verse.

  31. just sayin November 8, 2017

ya’ll being serious? ya’ll really think this is good?

    • TRUTH SERUM November 8, 2017

I’m like are they serious??? Rent Ma can’t ride a beat for nothing . It’s ok but it sounds dated and Rent Ma is always sounding angry. And y’all call that bars …. nah… I like kim’s Chant though. You won’t be dethroning the Queen with that weak ish.

      • 4U2See November 8, 2017

Did you say, “Rent ma” bich? SEE, you thirsties need to be trained. Remy pd real homage to the “Queen Kim B.”

    • Fancy BISH November 8, 2017

It’s for the streets and it’s gonna light the streets up too lol…Nicki could never

      • TRUTH SERUM November 8, 2017

The streets buying the same music the general public is buying. GTFOH.

      • Fancy BISH November 8, 2017

You know GOOD AND DAMN WELL what I mean! Stop putting energy where you don’t have to!

      • just sayin November 9, 2017

lol, the streets don’t want this mess.

      • Electrikblue November 9, 2017

Yea just like Nicki lit the streets up with her verse on Monster. That’s all people talked about.

  32. Ciah’s Turtle November 8, 2017

All I wish is that she dropped the video with the song. I really like the hook also.

  33. Jeans November 8, 2017

    KILLED IT! Love it!!!!!!

  34. Shaun November 8, 2017

  35. STAN November 8, 2017

  36. Fenty88 November 8, 2017

This is pure garbage I was waiting for a ? but instead got water hell naw this isn’t good I think remy just riding with Kim to get credit Kim has every right to call herself queen she’s legend but remy ain’t go 5 song U can name with out fat joe but they quickly to say nicki or iggy relies on collaboration remy will never be queen ?? Kim and nicki is I love Kim solo solo

  37. LEONNEWMAN1 November 8, 2017

    Another BANGER

  38. eric November 8, 2017

That beat is working in no one’s favor.

  39. Anthony November 8, 2017

Wow this is pathetic and our of touch old hags at it again

  40. Onion November 9, 2017

I knew Remy wasn’t with it when she released a fire diss record which received worldwide attention and couldn’t capitalise of it. Everyone wants Nicki gone, you are just not the one trust me or people would’ve jumped ship. Wait a Minute, the Keyshia Cole song and Money Showers verses were FIRE! And then the hype of this with Zane Lowe and the months of winning the BET Award and seen as winning the beef with Nicki and this is the best you could come up with and you deadass put Autotune Lil Kim on it.. Remy’s management, label and Fat Joe really said this was it? Remy gotta stop with the oldies samples and features henny. She need a solo fire club banger hit like Bodak Yellow, that would’ve been really scary. Conceited 2.0 beat. I’m convinced she’s a battle rapper at this point, but I’m sure her Chris Brown will get radio play so she should focus on that

  41. Blak November 9, 2017

    Hot record!

  42. Tee November 10, 2017

If you take lil Kim out the song then its 10x better. It’s a good song but Kim was a drag in this one. Should have gotten Cardi B instead

  43. Yayebella November 16, 2017

    s*** was pure trash
