Are Mariah Carey and JAY-Z about to go into business?
According to sources, the answer is… “yes.”
Dive below for details…
As widely reported, Mimi and controversial manager Stella Bulochnikov severed ties recently after a rollercoaster three year partnership that included a trashy reality series and “that” New Years Eve performance.
In the immediate aftermath it was being touted that Carey had tapped boyfriend Bryan Tanaka to steer her career. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to Page Six, the diva is signing with Jay’s Roc Nation to manage her career moving forward. It reportedly forms part of a broader reboot for the 47-year old, who is said to be installing all new everything – from lawyer to assistants, to management.
If the Roc deal is indeed taking place, it’d see the legend join a roster that includes Rihanna and DJ Khaled.
It is believed that she is still signed with Epic Records, after inking a deal last year engineered by LA Reid who departed the label soon after. Carey’s long-promised album debut for the imprint has yet to materialize.
Perhaps, with this new management situation, it will in the year to come.

We’re all for it!
Mariah’s hit-making days may be behind her (although never-say-never), but there’s no reason why she can’t be an album and touring force.
As such, if the Roc are up for the task of getting her business, branding, and perception in a better place, then we more than approve. Do you? Let us know below…
Mariah Carey could have had hits with Faded and Make It Look Good, she still at 47 sings better than 99.9% of these dancing image divas. She is Iconic, do a lady gaga – sing the standards, do a dance Cd, do shows….she still sells shows, Beautiful was a modest hit — With that voice, even though its not as powerful as 10 years ago, she still is iconic. Jay Z would have released Faded. Simple as that.
She doesn’t sing better than ANYBODY these days. Maybe in 1997….
No shade, but not even in 1997. When You Believe proved that. And that came out in 98.
That’s a lie. She sounded incredible on When you believe. She sang the harder part as well and blew Whitney away when they sang it live on Oprah. I mean we all know everyone loves to hate on Mariah but she OWNED the 90s and that should NEVER be discredited.
Im still mad side effects didn’t get the single treatment
Lady Gaga really did the right thing I agree. I´m so tired of superfical pop fans. The mature people are the ones that will make your career sustainable. Mariah is a proof herself, with all the timeless music she did so early in her career.
i’m just beyond mad that she didnt have the chance to release Dedicated or MILG as a single. ughHHHHH
Make it look Good was Time Magazine’s song of the year……Mariah since E=mc2 migrate mess just has lost track of “what’s a hit” singles. She clueless and allows the label to do them……
I think Mariah is fully capable of making hit records. She takes risks and that is why some songs hit and others flop. I Dont was a risk that backfired. Beatiful was a risk that hit.
That song was Time Magazine song of the year?? What ? How when? I never heard of that.
This can be something great going back to Sony and signing up with Epic was all about retaining a massive back catalogue which she now own along with everything from her IDJ as well as everything from Glitter. Many things can are said about MC but I tell you one thing she knows where to get the money because she still collecting publishing checks since forever and a day ago and now this it is all about keeping the money flowing through right and this move looks like a good one.
Beyoncé is not even signed to Roc nation. Mariah gone go over there and end up 2nd or third string to Rihanna.
I’m here for this. We don’t expect an 10 million album seller. But an image change and a musical re-direction could steer her back into better light.
Mariah can still sell 3 million records worldwide if properly engineered. And she’s the only one of these older divas that still can do that.
Proper management is key in this business!
Why not Roc Nation isn’t a bad idea most folks signing to this company all have been pretty successful…?
Shakira did not get success with Roc Nation
Not Shakira not Kylie, and both were two successful veterans in their own way.
For what? Nobody is checking for her anymore accept her delusional fans.
Not a bigger delusion than some Beyonce fans thinking she´s the best singer in the world and that everybody thinks the same 🙂
Good move Mariah. She’s needs professional people around her. Not that damn old manager and her kids. ??♀️
The beginning of the end ?
This is a bad move. Mariah should be learning from Beyonce on how to form a company to manage yourself. Instead she is signing on with another manager only to fire the manager in a few years. At this point one can safely assume that the problem is not the managers but the artist.
Mariah has the benefit that she has known Jay-Z since she was 13 and they were kids. They both have the highest respect for each other. Heck, she was the one that got him the gig as President and CEO of DefJam. This is a great move.
Didn´t they ruin Kylie´s last era? (when she was coming from a pretty good one with Aphrodite?). I suppose the material wasn´t on par either but I don´t know.
