While debate rages on about snubs at last night’s Grammy Awards, the ratings show that millions snubbed the show itself.

The CBS show, which featured a heavily promoted performance by Rihanna, is down significantly on last year’s numbers.
Indeed, the 2018 instalment was watched 19.8 million viewers and registered a 6.9 rating in the all important adults 18-49 demo.
Comparatively, last year’s edition commanded an audience of 26.1 million and an 19-49 rank of 7.8.
This means the show is down 24% in total viewers and almost 12% in the demo.
While there is potential for adjustments, as is the demo score would be the lowest in the show’s history.
Beyond RiRi, last night’s showing also featured performances from the likes of Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Pink, SZA, and Lady Gaga.
Which begs the question, why do you think the ratings dropped like a rock?

No one cares about award shows anymore. The whole point of them in the past was for you to see all the stars together on one night and see them outside of their craft. Now we see them everyday on social media and know that most are trash. Plus the whole idea of awards shows is dumb, you take the best of that year, put them against each other, make one a winner and the rest losers when they all had a great year.

I think this just comes down to the fact that there is no such thing as event television anymore. Especially when you can watch recaps, reviews, and performances later on other digital arenas. I used to be the person who had to be in front of the tv when any award show came on and I loved the shared consciousness of watching something at the same time millions of other people were watching; but those days are gone. I have a PS4, where I can watch all the performances at my leisure on youtube and the same goes for shows pretty much too. I think the only even television left is basically the Superbowl, which is still nothing like it used to be because of the reasons I previously stated.
Sidenote: All the Rihanna hate for her weight gain is ridiculous and needs to stop. She’s in a relationship and happy, I heard she stopped smoking weed which would make sense with the weight gain, and at the end of the day she don’t have to stay skinny for no one but herself. She’s still beautiful and still slaying.

The shade at rihanna was unneccessary, especially since it was announced she was performing like a week before so it wasn’t HEAVILY promoted. The heavy promotion would go to Jay Z being nominated for 8 awards and Bruno Mars being nominated and performing. So if you’re gonna place blame anywhere place it there. Plus I didn’t watch the show was too busy watching RHOA. half the people at the grammy’s I never heard of so why watch!

Ratings aren’t everything because honestly this was a very well put together show. They touch all the major issues in the country today from #blacklivesmatters, to immigration, to equality and #metoo movement. Yet manage to be entertaining and awarding the right artist this year and diversifying the nominees.

Blacks ruined the music industry like everything else they touch. Everything revolves around a false image, not quality of content. Whites patronize them out of fear pof being called racist, so if Beyonce’s girl, Baby Blue put out an album of burps, they’d praise it like crazy too just like all the rap and hip-hop today. Being the 60th year of the Grammys, they could’ve done so much more with the show. A medley from Janet would’ve taken things to a whole other level.
