New Song: Remy Ma – ‘Melanin Magic’ [Featuring Chris Brown]

Published: Thursday 18th Jan 2018 by Rashad

After fans pressed the snooze button on ‘Wake Me Up,’ the Lil Kim-assisted introductory single from Remy Ma‘s long-awaited new album ‘Seven Winters & Six Summers,’ the rapstress is looking to cast her spell on the Billboard Hot 100 with a new song – ‘Melanin Magic.’

Featuring Chris Brown, the horn heavy cut samples Mint Condition‘s iconic 90’s hit ‘Breakin My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)’ and – as ever – features Ma’s envied slick, yet hard-hitting delivery.

Is this just the hit she’s been waiting on?  Listen inside and let us know:

    IDK about this one yet.
Idk if it’s Chris Brown that makes me not want to appreciate the song or the song isn’t anything until a real flickering effect colorful video showcasing all melanin women would get me to like it.

  2. SuxMyCockiness =o January 19, 2018

Sounds more like Chris Browns song 😳

  3. GurlWepa1989 January 19, 2018

    Issa No..hanging up already.

  4. Abel Minaj January 19, 2018

It’s better than wake me up but that’s not saying not saying much.

  5. Honesty January 19, 2018

The track is decent. Why was Wake me up released before this??

  6. Caleb January 19, 2018

Not bad! Sounds way better than I thought from the snippet.

  7. We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler January 19, 2018

    Not bad! Cb did that

  8. BOOMKACK123 January 19, 2018

Her flow is always so lackluster. I didn’t wake up until CB came on, but even his part didn’t move me. It just made the song a tad better. Just a tad.

  9. Truth Be Told January 19, 2018

Exactly what I thought it was going to be… Trash🚮🚮🚮. This song isn’t about celebrating black women it’s just Remy being cocky. The only good part is Chris and even his vocals aren’t that good on it. Remy’s flow is sooooo trash. Her voice doesn’t go well with that beat at all. I’ll pass

This is ok this may do something on the urban charts but not on the Hot 100.

  11. RihNaj January 19, 2018

Not gonna lie but this is WHACK! Nah what is that flow sounds like she got sumin stuck in her throat….I can’t! Not even CB could save this song. Next.

  12. Caribbean Native January 19, 2018

Yooooo…..this young man can’t rap geeeze

  13. TRUTH SERUM January 19, 2018

Hmmm. Issa NO! Her flow is terrible! Pretty brown eyes is such a melodic song! That hard, offbeat, and raspy cadence she does didn’t work. Her lyrics were basic too. Chris was the only decent thing about this song. Sorry not sorry

Girl serving mediocre music like this exactly what crown do you think you took miss thing.

    • Meme January 19, 2018

Right. Lol. You can’t take a crown winning 1 rap battle. Like girl where your hits, where your acalades.

  15. Meme January 19, 2018

I like this song thanks to chris brown. He did his damn thing. The chorus gives me that good feeling. This will get plenty play on the radio.

Now for Remy. How making a whole song about black beauty sounding angry AF. Like girl soften your voice and stop sounding mad all the time. This is not the time or place to be throwing shots at Nicki, like stay on topic. And we ALL know Rem had work done so please stop with the my body so real bull crap. And lastly her flow was garbage.

  16. Bam Bam January 19, 2018

i tried, but her flow pulls me out of the song everytime….

  17. The Wig Snatcher January 19, 2018

This was a waste of opportunity. Chris Brown stole the show on this song. This song is overly produced, especially during Chris Brown’s part. More importantly, Remy did not rap about melanin magic that will resonate with Black millennial women. Instead, she uses this an opportunity to diss Nicki. Remy will continue to lose by keep taking shots at Nicki.

  18. binx January 19, 2018

    Just as I thought….trash!

  19. Eye roll January 19, 2018

Dang Remy! I actually listened to this song without any type of bias and damn!
How does one ruin a quiet storm classic like pretty brown eyes? Her rap doesnt really even go with the music. Chris voice sounds like an auto tuned whiny robot.
    History continues to repeat itself.
This is like the female version of LL Cool J vs Cannibus. Cannibus won that one battle but lost the war. He kept going after LL and his entire album threw shots at him. His album flopped and his career was never the same. Remy might want to go back and look at rap history.
    2/5 and that’s being generous!

  20. Brent Christopher January 19, 2018

no. i love remy’s energy and vibe, but this track isnt going to do anything in today’s music climate. take another stab at it sis.

The hate for Remy ma is real. The song is a hit. Oh and to the cardi b fans. Remy is coming for her phony ass. #Teamremymafia #Hot100
