Katy Perry has always been quite outspoken on a range of topics – and it turns out that extends to the state of her career.
Well documented is the dismal dip that derailed her once-unstoppable train of success. And, in doing away with the “pretend it never happened” approach most Pop stars opt for, Perry has revealed that she’s more than aware of her predicament following the commercial tanking of her ‘Witness’ album.
Here’s what she had to say when speaking on her current status in an interview with Glamour magazine:
“This last year has been about killing my ego, which has been really necessary for my career. I had a lot of expectations at the end of 2015 and the end of 2016 that weren’t met. That was the firs time, in a long time, that I didn’t get my way. I think it was the universe’s way of testing me, of saying, “We’re going to see if you really do love yourself.” That was challenging for me, because I didn’t realize how much I relied on the outside validation. I though that I didn’t, but once you get kicked down the mountain a little bit, you realize that the weather really is better at the top. It’s been really necessary for me to go through that. People don’t relate to someone who is perfect or always winning anyway. You can’t always be sitting perched on top of the mountain.”

Beyonce is definitely not humble. That´s something she isn´t. One of the reasons they or she have decided to not speak in years is for that ego not to show much. Apart from how slow she sounds (I suppose there are still peopel who believes she makes her songs though. She and Rihanan fans have similar levels of delusions).
Other than that she is ok doing her thing and is sdefinitely prevailing. The change of direction with her “3” album and especially “Beyonce” was key. That was very smart and needed for her career at that moment.

Those two are the biggest icons of pop right now they create movements and cultural impacts like no other females currently. Taylor is next in line if she can keep this success up !

Katy didn’t do anything wrong, it just the change in music that has always happened and will always happen. Like R&B in the 2000s, in 2010s you had too many female pop stars. Plus dance music isn’t in anymore, it happens, it will happen to trap music in a few years as well. It was a nice run.
