New Song: Alexandra Burke – ‘Shadow’

Published: Saturday 10th Feb 2018 by Sam

Alexandra Burke is back!

The vocal sensation has unleashed new single ‘Shadow’ – the lead single from her long-awaited third studio album ‘The Truth Is’ (now due March 16th).

A melodic mid-tempo, the track sees the 29-year-old in love-lorn form lamenting over a relationship she just can’t let go of.

Take a listen below…

A mature re-introduction for Ms. Burke.

The Pop landscape has changed a whole lot since her last album in 2012. Hence it’s understandable why she avoided coming back with the “expected” (e.g. a huge dance jam or syrupy ballad). Indeed, she’s tasked with retaining her core appeal while integrating herself into today’s music climate.

And ‘Shadow’ helps that cause, while seemingly making a beeline for the older album-buying audience too.

Welcome back, Alexandra!

I’m sorry, but this song is god awful. I was really rooting for her 🙁

    Maybe its a grower???
She also needs to time it down on the makeup…..makes her look like a drag queen

Her taste in music is the same as her taste in men and ratchet tattoos…it sucks. The only thing she has down pay is never leaving the house without her hair hat on.

It’s a rock and a hard place. If she goes all. Cheryl Cole/Rita Ors pop tart people will say she’s too old and radio won’t play it – if she goes middle of the road like this for a mature audience it feels like she’s retiring and there’s no emotion in her vocal to connect the listener with her singing this type of music.

At this point she isn’t going to be a top 5 seller – maybe just Jessie J it and sing the music you want with all you got and people will jump on because it feel authentic.

She is such a force. A solid and reflective song from an obviously talented songstress. Grows with more listens as you here the different vocal levels and detail in the track.
