But this time, there’s no butt-baring chaps in sight. Xtina has unveiled a much more scaled back, ethereal image in the newest issue of Paper Magazine – which she also covers.
Within its pages, she expands on her fresh aesthetic, being inspired by the Childish Gamibo and Cardi B, and body image.
The feature arrives as anticipation for her new album – her first since 2012’s ‘Lotus’ – escalates.
Peep pics and quotes below…
On Her New Look:
“I’ve always been someone that obviously loves to experiment, loves theatrics, loves to create a storyline and play a character in a video or through stage. I’m a performer, that’s who I am by nature. But I’m at the place, even musically, where it’s a liberating feeling to be able to strip it all back and appreciate who you are and your raw beauty.”
[That said] I’m a girl that likes a beat face, let’s not get it twisted [laughs].”
“There’s always gonna be those trolls out there or people that have their own definition and ideals of beauty, but I think we’re progressing to a place of pushback and more people coming out.
It’s like my Instagram says right now. Everybody that can’t hop on that train can suck our d*cks.”
“Childish Gambino. He’s genius.
Chance the Rapper too. He’s made it without a label, without any strings attached, and being so charismatic at the same time. And Cardi B – she makes people really crack up just by being herself, and it’s genuine.”
It was a touch grating that she didn’t spill on new music. But it’s safe to presume that this is the official era launch; meaning that the material can’t be far off.
