Jennifer Lopez Covers TIME’s 100 Most Influential People Issue

Published: Thursday 19th Apr 2018 by Sam

J.Lo’s fountain of slay shows no signs of drying up anytime soon.

Proving that she’s the definition of endurance, Jennifer Lopez stuns a-front of TIME Magazine‘s annual 100 Most Influential People issue.

A multi-hyphenate talent, the 48-year-old has seen her career go from strength to strength on the back of major diversification of her brand. Indeed, beyond music, she’s upped her acting activity with shows such as ‘Shades Of Blue,’ has got her executive producer hat on with projects like ‘World Of Dance,’ and her endorsement game is unrivalled.

In her feature spread, La Lopez is profiled by ‘Scandal’ actress Kerry Washington.

Check out what she had to say about he stage blazer below…

“As a kid growing up in the Bronx, I used to watch Jennifer Lopez from the wings. Several of us girls would hide in the folds of the curtains at the Boys & Girls Club to watch her perform. We were in awe of our neighborhood role model and phenom. When Jennifer left the Bronx to pursue her dreams, I would rush to finish my homework on Sunday to watch her on In Living Color. She made me believe that you could come from where we came from and achieve whatever you imagine is possible.

Jennifer Lopez is an iconic performer. She’s the first Latina actor to earn over $1 million for a film and the first woman to have a No. 1 album and a No. 1 movie in the same week. But she’s also a mother, an entrepreneur, an activist, a designer, a beauty icon, a philanthropist and a producer. She is an undeniable force and a powerful example—not just for women of color but for anyone who has been made to feel “other” and for everyone who carries the burden and the privilege of being a first. To me, no matter how successful she becomes, she will always be Jenny from our block. And I will always be a grateful witness to her journey.” [Kerry Washington / TIME]

Well said!

Congrats.

Amazing what laying on YOUR BACK for every Man of Color – to get dancing gigs and acting jobs. SHE STOLE CHANTE MOORE’S SONG (if you had my love) . SHE USED ASHANTI’S VOCALS ON I’m Real and Aint it Funny. SHE STOLE MARIAH CAREY’S SONG. What is she good at STEALING AND HO_EING HER WAY TO THE TOP. Congratulations, Jennifer, Your BOX deserves an OSCAR for getting you this far.

Don’t forget Christina Milian on the chorus of ‘Play’ lol

You kinda have a point lol. It’s been alleged that she has “stolen” several songs from other artists, including the ones you named. Even though other ppl really were calling the shots in those instances (Diddy & Tommy Mottola), J.Lo is very much unoriginal as a musician. Not only does she love to pander to different ethnic groups, her vocal ability is very limited and she’s clearly benefitted from her physical features and fashion choices. I’ve always wondered what she does best— acting, singing, or dancing and I’ve concluded that it’s none of the three…it’s walking the red carpet.

It’s definately dancing. She is a really great dancer, an ok actress, and a below average singer.

      • S****** Blonde April 19, 2018

I kept most of it inside in between sessions. It’s fun to fart a little bit of the nit out and keep some still inside.

Congrats to J.Lo!! Shes a KWANE!

I love how people on here act so high n mighty when it comes to what an artist might have done for their success. Honey, what would you do for the success that she has accrued? What have you done already for a mere fraction of what she has. Don’t judge til you’re in the position.
