Fifth Harmony star Normani is strutting on full steam with her solo career.
With the group now on hiatus, the 21-year-old is making major moves to establish her own name, brand, and success narrative.
Now, it’s been confirmed who the stage blazer has teamed up with to assist her cause.
Details below…
Billboard confirms our earlier report that Normani has inked a major deal with Sony’s RCA Records.
Interestingly, it’s in joint partnership with Keep Cool – a new label venture spearheaded by seasoned industry force Tunji Balogun.
The pairing reunites Normani and Balogun, who previously collaborated when the latter served as A&R of Fifth Harmony’s self-titled third album.
He’s also notable for being instrumental in the career successes of Childish Gamino, Bryson Tiller, H.E.R, and Khalid – who Normani worked with on hit collaboration ‘Love Lies.’
As well as label-head, Balogun be leading the A&R charge for the songbird’s debut solo offering. And the union is off to a roaring start; for, as reported, Normani already in the studio with Bruno Mars and Rihanna hitmakers.
Speaking on the deal, the Houston native said in a statement:
“I’m so incredibly grateful to be able to be in a place where I can explore myself as an artist and what I’m capable of. Never in a million years did I think I would be in this position in 2018. Everyone has been so supportive and patient; thank you so much to my fans for giving me the opportunity.”
She continued, saluting her bandmates for their support:
“I’m so thankful to my girls that we created this space among ourselves to explore and branch out creatively. Fifth Harmony has always been and will always be home. I’d like to say thank you to Tunji and Peter [RCA chairman/CEO Edge] for believing in the vision that I have for myself as an artist. I’m appreciative for their commitment and perseverance.”
Balogun added:
“Normani is a dynamic, multi-talented young woman with vibrant energy and a powerful spirit. We are extremely excited to welcome her into the RCA family and I’m honored to announce her as the first artist signed to Keep Cool. We are all looking forward to watching Normani thrive and flourish as we create incredible music and unforgettable moments together.”
Also notable were comments from RCA CEO Peter Edge, who said of the rising star:
“Normani’s talent and charisma really set her apart as a leading lady in the industry. I know she will bring that same energy and more to her solo career.”
Huge congrats!
Normani has secured an all-star team; she’s managed by a branch of Roc Nation, has signed with a major label, and is already cooking up tracks with super-producers. Add to that a collaboration that’s rocking the airwaves and is seems as though she’s poised for big things!
