I like her but I’m realistic and her track record shows when she sings songs like this they translate TERRIBLE LIVE. She is going to struggle the entire song and if this is a hit, which it could be, it will lead to an onslaught of scream struggle performances which she is known for to those who know vocals. Sorry I have to agree with S****** Bully (aka the fake Jasmine that would not leave me alone so I changed my username). I think the term “Vocal Bible” is not good at all. People’s voices change with age. Xtina’s singing style is not technically a good way to sing because she strains her vocals alot. What does that term even mean? In the 90s most female singers recorded a Whitney song on their demos to get signed because Whitney was considered the best female voice. If you ask any older singer they would tell you to develop your own vocal style so that your voice is unique. I don’t think there is any one voice that is a measure of vocal ability or style. Everyone is different if they are a true sanger. Xtina and Brandy are cool but I highly doubt artists are trying to emulate them, especially given the current state of their mature voices.

Horrible hook! Did nobody think to rhyme the title of the song? “I got fire in my veins/ I’m not made to fall in line” is just a weak lyric and repeating fall in line cause nothing before that rhymes just means the hook is tired. Verses are trying to talk about something but the people who wrote it can’t bring a compelling narrative that’s not skin deep. It’s so dramatically setup for nothing special lyrically and I don’t think people care about “me too” enough to just champion this song.

It’s ok. I like Christina’s songs when I hear them but I find that I never go back to listen to them ever again after. She completely over powers Demi in this song, which isn’t really a good thing. Demi has a pretty big voice herself so Christina must be really loud. She might as well have did it herself. I feel like the live version would be way better though if done right.
They honestly edited demi out so it makes the duet less powerful because she’s not even in it much. She can go much higher than Christina and she’s prettty loud too so it’s just the editing process, which makes the duet fall flat

Ever since it was announced Demi was on this I was surprised at the choice… I saw her attempting Purple Rain live somewhere and I was strait to A&E for eardrum surgery for days. Demi is a studio singer and lacks vocal control – so she just sounds all over the place live.
Sure – they edited her down – but her screaming against a Xtina would have just been Tew Much,
