I like both ladies. That being said, not according to (Billboards top R&B artist of the last 25 yrs). Which has Monica at #22, and Brandy at #45. Monica’s music career, chart success, also having a #1 album (Brandy does not) and catalog is much better. Which is why she’s placed where she’s at.

Brandy last album Two Eleven was a Billboard R&B #1 album and produced the top 3 hit “Put It Down” which was also #1 on urban. While Monica last album Code Red debut at 27!! Lmaooo she’s the flop selling 50,000 copies in total. Brandy is the VOCAL BIBLE. She’s sold millions of more records than Flopica. She’s a TV star, Music Star, Broad way star & Movie star with dolls and all. Monica is that ghetto chick from

No shade, but didn’t 211 come out the same time as Monica’s album New life, which sold more than 211. Also, Monica is the last of the two to have a certified album. Monica btw is placed on Billboards top 50 RnB artist at 22, while Brandy came in at 45. And yes Code Red didn’t sell well, but every artist who released an RnB album that came out after that, did around the same numbers. And judging by Brandys last 4 failed albums, she isn’t going to do that much better either. I mean, facts are facts.

I’m not saying that Monica don’t have hit singles, but her album sales weren’t ever strong. Artists in the 90s had hits &especially sales. The latter was even more important. It’s great that Monica’s singles chart run managed to help her place higher than Brandy on that chart ya’ll keep bringing up in every Brandy post, but album sales has always been the meat &potatoes of Billboard.
