      Agreed!

    • Jasmine (The Real Jasmine) June 21, 2018

Agree. Toni better get the call. Anita is a great singer, songwriter, and live performer. You can listen to many of her albums from beginning to end without skipping because the songs are high quality. For example her Rapture album is so classic every song on it is a hit! Same goes for her Rhythm of Love album and Giving You The Best That I Got album. She is the only artist that was able to compete with Whitney at award shows and win!

      • ??? June 21, 2018

      • Jasmine (The Real Jasmine) June 21, 2018

I don’t lie. She surely did. It was the same night Whitney met Bobby and some of the crowd booed Whitney.

      • Fancy BISH June 21, 2018

Fantasia, Mary J, and Faith Evans can do a tribute….maybe even Tamia and Toni Braxton!!!!!!!!
BET……. GET THE HELL ON IT.
    LEGENDARY OMG

    • Jasmine (The Real Jasmine) June 21, 2018

No to Fantasia, Mary, and Faith Evans! Those loudmouth ladies lack the class, sophistication, and unique singing style to do an Anita song justice. Yes to Toni, Ledisi, and Tamia.

      • Truth Dot Com June 21, 2018

LOL! Well you for one don’t know who Ms. Anita respects.
And if they are good enough to pull on stage with Anita Baker during her Farewell Tour then THEY sure as hell are good enough for a tribute.!

Would you like to pick your mouth up off the ground honey?

      • Jasmine (The Real Jasmine) June 21, 2018

My mouth is in place. Your is probably full of n** and booty juice.

    • Fancy BISH June 21, 2018

      Ya’ll leave Fanny alone lol

  4. Jacob June 21, 2018

But knowing bet, they will call Meghan trainnor, tevin Campbell and lalah half of the way (even though she is more respected)…but bet be so off key with picking tribute performers….even when I went to a Christie Michelle concert before, she did a Anita baker song and she nailed it and even had her singing voice downpacked

  5. SMH June 21, 2018

Awesome news! Personally i would pick Toni, Mary J, and Jazmin Sullivan for the tribute. Anita has been the main influence for these women, especially Toni and Mary. Mary got her record deal by making a demo singing ‘Caught Up In The Rapture’, and Toni was basically hand picked by Anita to sing Love Shoulda Brought You Home when she passed on the song. It would be a full circle moment and an amazing tribute.

    • Fancy BISH June 21, 2018

This! ✅ And Jill Scott or Marsha Ambrosius wouldn’t be bad handling Body And Soul!

  6. Shae June 21, 2018

If I had it my way:

    Jazmin Sullivan: Rapture

    Toni Braxton: Sweet Love

    Tamia: Body and Soul

    Chaka Khan: Apologize

Monica: Giving You The Best That I Got

    • Fancy BISH June 21, 2018

Oh snap! You’re on point lol ✅ ?

      • Shae June 21, 2018

I love Auntie Anita! Her music will make you clean a whole damn house and cook a three course meal without even noticing you did it!

      • Fancy BISH June 21, 2018

Not one lie! Yaaas lol ? ?? Comment of the day! ✅

    • Jacob June 21, 2018

Chaka can barely remember the lyrics to her own songs

      • Shae June 21, 2018

        Damn. ????

  7. Kim.Kesha& Pam June 21, 2018

Monica definitely needs to be a part of this tribute!

  8. ceeplez June 21, 2018

I think Deborah C** would be amazing also Monica, Jojo, LeToya Lockett or Teyana Taylor are also worthy artist.

  10. ~The Arcade~ June 21, 2018

Okay Ms. Anita Baker, come through. I can’t wait to hear/ see the showcase of her catalogue. I believe in 2010, she also received the same honor at the Soul Train Awards and yeah that was a spectacular performance by some heavy- hitter sangers.

  11. Olusheyi June 21, 2018

    She definitely deserves this
