Six years have separated fans from 2012’s ‘Lotus’ to the latest album of powerhouse vocalist Christina Aguilera.
Delivered after years of false starts and reroutes, the set – kicked off by the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted buzz single ‘Accelerate’ – saw promotion for its follow-up singles and parent album do just that with appearances on Carpool Karaoke, Billboard Music Awards, ‘TRL,’ and more to support.
Released June 15, the set’s chances at #1 were dashed by opposing releases from 5 Seconds of Summer and a surprise drop from Beyonce & Jay Z, but that certainly didn’t stop it from moving a respectable figure. Liberation — released on June 15 via RCA Records — starts with 68,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending June 21, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 62,000 were in traditional album sales. [source]

This release was intended to shut down Xtina and Nas release. It did just that. Sounds like a success to me. Jays last album only sold 400k after the 1 mill givaway. Jayz past his commercial prime thanks to Tidal and still out sold straintina and Nas after their long extended break. ?

Wishful thinking… The real test is the self titled album sold more in 3 hours than Liberation in 1 week including streaming stats. ?(80k). If Everything had a full 7 days on iTunes it most likely would have gone #1 but the Carter’s got cocky. They needed sum humble pie anyway and I’m sure it tasted good ??
The reality is that The Carters have been in audiences faces 24/7 so this joint album should’ve been a home run. Meanwhile Xtina has been MIA for 6 years. The fact she sold mildly less than a couple frequently heralded as modern ‘Music Royalty’ is reason to say ‘Kudos Xtina, she held her own’.

Wow I thought Christina would have at least sold 95k to 100k . She had a ticket bundle and only did 68k something is not right here. She needs to do more promotion perform on Ellen, maybe do a deluxe version. Christina needs better producers and management. I’m still rooting for Christina she’s truly talented.
