Janet Jackson used her awe-inspiring performance at last night’s ‘Essence Festival’ to honour the life of her father…the late Joe Jackson.
The omnipresent musical force passed away on June 27th and is survived by a family now led by Janet and her mother Katherine.

After the fame and attention from Girls Trip, this was a great time and place for Janet to strike gold with the public and industry professionals and I think she did it. Don’t they televise the show at some point?
I was there 3rd row yall. I though Janet looked and sounded amazing. The audience was definitely feeling her performance. She was very impressive and included some extra songs to her set list like You Ain’t Right which I haven’t seen her perform since 2002. Fantasia did a great job and although her and Janet are polar opposites the audience received Fantasia’s performance equally (if not even more than Janet’s). Teddy Riley was great too because he brought out Ginuwine, Guy, Dave Hollister, and Blackstreet.
