Aretha Franklin, known for having one of the greatest voices in music history, and for hits like “Respect,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” … died Thursday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Aretha passed away in her Detroit home where she was under hospice care. She’d been in failing health for many months and she was down to 86 pounds. One source told us he was informed more than a week ago that Aretha could go at any time.
She was surrounded by friends and family when she passed. Her family released a statement, saying, “In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart. We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family.” [source]

Thank you God for blessing my great grand parents, my grandparents, my parents, my generation, and many generations ahead with Aretha’s tremendous vocal talent. She had one of the best voices of all time that transcended race and politics and numerous genres of music (Soul, Rnb, Jazz, Gospel, Opera, and Blues). She will be missed and now she is home in heaven.

I love sassy Aretha and her music. She in good hands as she about to meet Anubis the God of Afterlife. He will redistribute her soul to the universe to be rebirth. She built a timeless catalog of music for many to enjoy. Condolences to the family.

Aretha IS music…she is the very foundation of this thing we call music! I don’t remember having to learn Aretha’s songs…it feels like I was born and already knew them! She is the soundtrack to ALL of our lives and will continue to do so! What an amazing, beautiful and phenomenal woman…a QUEEN and an ICON.
