Ahead of the September 27th kick off of his ’50th Intimate Nights’ tour (click here for the dates), the US Tennis Association (USTA) has announced that Grammy-winning crooner Maxwell‘s been tapped to deliver the U.S. national anthem at the 2018’s U.S. Open’s opening ceremony.

Set to take place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium prior to the evening session on August 27th, the announcement succeeds news that powerhouse vocalist Kelly Clarkson will headline the Opening Night Ceremony.

With Maxwell’s smooth vocals best known for carrying R&B slow jams and love songs, we’re keen to hear his unique take on the historic number.

The man can sing. That’s all you need to sing the anthem. If he couldn’t then I can see the concern. He will do great! Saw enough of his shows to know.
Seal would be another great choice. He is amazing !
