Fans the world over saw Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin‘s royal sendoff via a live stream of her funeral services.
Broadcast live Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple, the event – attended by many of the Soul icon’s closest family, friends, fellow celebrities, dignitaries, politicians, and more – delivered many-a-noteworthy tribute performance courtesy of its scheduled performers Faith Hill, Ariana Grande, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Khan, and so many more.

How is it that women 60 y/o and sound so good?
Chaka did wonderful and sounded wonderful but I’m sorry she is lit here. It is also a little ghetto for her to have the lyrics to the song stapled to her fan. She could have taken the time to learn the lyrics since she announced she was performing the song 4 days ago.
Chaka had me shook with those effortless high notes. I was amused at her reading the lyrics off the fan. We all know Chaka’s going to have her a few sips here and there, and she’s a legend, so I didn’t really even care.
But on the real, how can you be black and not know the words to Goin Up Yonder. It is sung at nearly every black funeral in the United States.
What is that child wearing? Ariana’s dress is really inappropriate. She looks dressed for the club.
Did Aretha even know that b|tch? She always trynna sing kareoke and aint nobody wanting to here it. She dressed like a hoooker. How disrespectful.

Yep, it’s sooo obvious Ariana Grande was there for the photo opportunity as well as the credibility of being able to say she sang at Aretha’s funeral. With so few newbies of actual merit, the industry is trying to brainwash the public into believing she has the talent to be spoken about along with the legends. All this did for me was confirm she is a pop star and no thanks a multi-faceted artist. I like her in her lane but that was a really exposing moment.
Ariana really embarrassed herself and the family, who requested she sing. That performance reminded me of when they sing “My Girl” at David Ruffin service. And her dress didnt help her whispering ass performance either. She had a black boyfriend from Detroit, girl y p.k u cant tell me you ain’t know how to dress for a good ol’ fune what NOT to sing in the Lords pulpit.
I’m tired of seeing Jennifer Hudson’s homely looking ass perform each time a black celebrity dies. We all know she a loud belter but sit down somewhere girl and let somebody else get some shine who would be a breath of fresh air like Jazmine Sullivan, Jill Scott, and India Arie.
She’s better than Bey singing.

This was a concert or funeral? A mess. They tried way too hard. Lay this woman to rest and stop doing $hit.
Ariana was a disaster. Her outfit was inappropriate and they whole thing was cringeworthy. Them poor old men looked so uncomfortable
Ronald Isley’s performance was great. It was very real, passionate, and great.
The camera was on big Sean during ariana’s Performance, wow! Was this a funeral or the VMAS? Lol
The Clark Sisters and Fantasia were amazing. I just finished watching their performances.
Yea for some reason Ariana‘s vocal was off, I couldn’t hear her in parts and was waiting for clear belts – she seemed restrained and the arrangement relied on the background vocalists a lot. But I noticed the mic set up must have been crap because even when Shirley Ceasar sang the mic dropped in and out if you didn’t sing directly into it from a certain angle. Agreed, Ari should have worn more clothes.
Tasha Cobb and Shirley sounded great. I liked their tribute.

Couldn’t Ariana have worn something longer. It’s a funeral not a nightclub.
Jennifer thought that screaming louder was emotion, I like Jennifer’s voice and (her) normal volume, but its as if she watched Fantasia and said imma do this too.

Ariana Grande has no home training and her man don’t care. You left the house and thought you looked cute in the dress it looks like you made shorter to go to church for a funeral.

Somebody pointed out that Ariana’s ponytail was longer than her dress. I laughed at first but if you look it does look like it is longer than the damn dress. She needs to retire that ponytail look. It makes her look so juvenile.
Baby Fantasia & Chaka Khan gave me what I want & IMO Ariana soprano tones haven’t aged with her!!??♂️ Jennifer’s yelling didn’t move me either!!??♂️
