Report: Gladys Knight Confirms She Does NOT Have Cancer

Published: Friday 31st Aug 2018 by Rashad

With all eyes on the homegoing celebration of Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin (click here to watch), Empress of Soul Gladys Knight gave fans a scare when she revealed she and the late icon “had the same disease.”

Offering little more clarification, reports like the one found here immediately began flooding the net with news the 74-year-old was suffering from pancreatic cancer – the disease that claimed the life of Franklin.

Now, with the help of her rep Jay Schwartz, Knight is providing context to her statement and assuring her longtime music lovers that she does not have cancer.  Read her statement inside:

In a statement to Rolling Stone via Schwartz, Knight cleared up the miscommunication. “I’d like to clarify that Aretha and I discussed both of us having cancer, mine was stage 1 breast cancer and hers was pancreatic,” she said.

“Due to early detection, I am cancer-free and grateful for that.  It is unfortunate that on a day we should be celebrating Aretha’s life and massive contribution to our world, a reporter who did not relay accurate information has missed the message. I send my love to the entire Franklin family and my gratitude to them for sharing such an extraordinary person with us.”

I’m glad Gladys beat cancer. Regardless of the kind, cancer is not good and will cause worry.

Congratulations Ms.Knight , I had sister who had breast cancer and was TREATED by aQUACK!!! Even though she’s been gone 11 years now, her daughter is adult, still miss her terribly. I always enjoyed you performing with your brother and cousins, still hope you may do concert in Buffalo if schedule permits. Blessings to you:
