Clarkson is currently on schedule to play at the iHeartRadio Music Festival tomorrow, but a congratulatory message from the media machine (about her show’s pick up) saw her hit back about their lack of play of her music.
In scorching tweet, she said:

No, No, No boo. Kelly Clarkson has an Incredible voice. But she’s an “american idol”. She has copied Celine. Mariah. Pink. Christina. Reba. Aretha’s vocal style. PEOPLE DON’T KNOW WHO SHE IS??? She copies her Idols and sounds like them. That’s a problem. But truth be told, she has an Incredible voice.
Good for her….what I don’t get is why radio is so ageist…are kids really listening to radio or just streaming their favs? Radio is where grown folks listen to music driving to work so the music should reflect that. 40 and 50 something’s don’t give an ish about Selena Gomez and would rather her from Kelly, Mariah, Madonna etc
Radio has always been ageist. Nothing new. You don’t hear young people of the current generation whining about older artists getting radio play cause they ait checking for them just like when your fave were getting played on the radio a decade or two ago the previous generation”s artists were getting no play on the radio. No artist is entitled to radio play forever except Michanel Jackson! Time to turn that channel to the oldies channel

I never understood the benefit of radio being ageist. So if you hit a certain age that means your music isn’t good anymore? That’s just weird to me. And especially in today’s world where so much of the younger population doesn’t even listen to radio because they stream whatever they like, it doesn’t make sense to me that radio wouldn’t try expanding their listener base by playing a larger variety of music…including artists over the age of like 35!
Exactly radio sucks.. They could spin quite a few different artists. They play these same goofy a** playlist over & over. You can have all of your pop tarts. But play some real/amazing artists in between that.
