Usher has returned.
The R&B crooner spent much of this year and last navigating his way back to safe terrain after a shocking scandal surrounding STIs.
Now, he looks set to shift the focus back to the music with mysterious new project.
Moments ago, the Grammy winner premiered a trailer codenamed ‘A’ – a homage of sorts to hometown of Atlanta.
He also took to Instagram to share an eight-song tracklist.
Peep both below…
Here’s the tracklist, which hints at the involvement of Zaytoven…
The thought of Usher rap-singing over a Trap beat (per the trailer) doesn’t exactly fill us with glee. But we are intrigued to hear what he’s been cooking up for the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Hard II Love’ – especially lyrically in light of all that’s transpired. Beyond that…
Is this an album? An EP? What will the visual component be too?
So many questions! And according to Ush, the answer arrives at midnight.
You just wanna hear him talk about hèrpés, you’re not really interested in the music. You’re interested in being messy/gossip. Own it so when he pays the subject dust you’ll look stupid
Ok, first of all it isn’t like we don’t know that he’s been riding around Atlanta with Quantasia Sharpton in that Lamborghini ? And the only A she really wants is Chick-fil-A ? Second of all, Usher sold 20 million albums when he addressed an issue (even though it was JD’s real issue), so stop acting like he doesn’t appeal to people by spilling tea ☕️ Third of all, I’m just glad Apple put the .?123 button back where it belongs! Usher sells when he makes great R&B and until he does that he’ll be right at the bottom of the charts! And if this album isn’t available on Spotify then he can kiss my A! Love him tho!
AMEN…TAKE YOUR TIME @Fancy BISH…AMEN
Yesss, i cannot wait, The King is finally back!
Why do these celebs be posting videos around ATL like they really go to these places….
@Truth – hahahaha
40+ year old RnB heartthrob with H***** with men and women? This record has to be good, incredible actually to get love on Radio now. He makes great music….let’s hope its great music
He’s not even from Atlanta. He’s said this countless times.
This ain’t it Raymond. The cute lil trap inspired songs on “Hard II Love” were good because they were still R&B flavored with drips of trap and you were actually singing. Rapping over trap beats because you’re producer 15 years younger than say it’s cute, AINT IT. Kind of like how “Everything Is Love” didnt work as an album. And the visual trailer doesn’t help “pay dust” to the h*****/bisexual s** scandal. It’s kind of like ‘see, that’s how he got h*****’ and ‘why he with them strippers, he bi’. It just doesn’t work.
Well the video doesn’t pay dust because ur looking to him address something and he’s just doing what he wants to do, living his life and making the visuals he wants and truly paying it dust. Most superstars do it
KEEP UP! I’m looking for him to not address the issue, get away from anything that may bring up the issue and go for a more musical and artistic approach. “Doing what he wants” and “Living his life” has lead to an s** and coming out the closet. Putting that in a video isn’t the best look when your trying to avoid talking that exact issue.
So just by looking at this trailer, I can see that Usher is portraying this R&B Thug or Bad Boy image to appear trendy and cool. It worked in the early 2000s when he was in his 20’s but it’s not gonna work now. it’s 2018, Usher has kids nows, he’s about to turn 40 and the younger generation is into their own R&B Bad Boy: Chris Brown, as well as other male stars like Drake, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber etc. It’s not 2004 or 2005, Usher isn’t “THE MAN” or the “It Boy” of Hip/Hop & R&B anymore especially when you have younger guys like CB & Drake out.
I thought he was working with JD? Smh.
Me too, that Ursher 2.0 with JD was expected but we will see.
he still look so youthful…show em you been doing this Ush! here for it.
Not mad at him, do what you love to do!!??♂️
Judging by the tracklist it will be a bunch of songs bout s**. And that combined with a whackass trap beat? No Usher, that’s not the comeback we want.
Usher is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t. If he keeps it current, yall are mad. If he keeps it traditional, yall are mad. Newsflash: Usher has ALWAYS been a trendy artist. He has always worked with the hottest producers and made music that fit the musical landscape of the moment. He’s almost forty years old (if he isn’t already), and has nothing else to prove. I’m not checking for any new music from him, but Usher’s legacy is cemented.
I ain’t here for Usher jumping on this damn trap bandwagon, and he’s late af at that. SMH
I can’t for the LIFE of me understand why Usher isn’t unlocking 20 million fans who bought Confessions! You don’t see Adele doing trap music ? These artists can ride around in their car and listen to their experimental bullshiiit on their own time! The consumers want THE REAL ISH ??
“Send My Love” is Adele’s trap hit, LMFAO
@Tori lmaoooooo ?
First hopping on the EDM trend and now Trap. I give up.
This looks like a soulless budget trap EP that will not connect Usher with a new audIence or satisfy whats left of the old one. Yawn ?
Usher is washed up.
He’s been have so you expect?
From the sounds of this trailer, Imma take a HARD pass on this one. Visually and sonically it appears that Usher is trying to get on the radio and appeal to vapid urban teens as opposed to making good music. Where are JD and Pharrell when you need them????
Terrible. I’ll pass.
Usher is going through a serious midlife crisis and it’s showing. He’s desperately trying to appeal to a younger audience by singing/rapping over trap beats and dressing like he’s Chris Brown’s contemporary or a lost 4th member of the Migos. He needs to understand that you can do mainstream music without compromising your sound. Blend the Top 40 sound with authentic R&B like Bruno Mars does and it’ll be very appealing instead of going full trap. He’s too old to be doing this type of sound.
If he sees more value in this junk than he does in r&b, I don’t need to be a fan anymore. I heard enough of his misguided rap imitations on the last album. Give it up and just SING!
Can’t wait to hear
