H.E.R has emerged as one of the year’s definitive break-out stars.

Despite being relatively new to the masses, the soul-filled songbird has accrued a fast-growing fanbase that also includes a number of major stars.

Indeed, the likes of Rihanna and Alicia Keys have expressed appreciation for her music.

One of the most notable and vocal supporters, though, is Pop legend Janet Jackson, who attended her show in London in March.

At the time, it was Jackson who first showered praise on the rising star – captioning the pic above with:

“You are a sweet and talented soul. I’m excited for your journey, never change who you are.”

Now, in a new interview about her incredible year, the 21-year-old shared what the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee told her.

Speaking to PEOPLE, the singer said of Mama Eissa:

“It’s been crazy; her reaction to me and saying that I got her through her pregnancy and that she listens to all of my music.” 

H.E.R also opened up about being nominated for five awards at the 2019 Grammys:

 “[My manager called everyone on our squad in for a meeting and said there was an emergency. Everyone came into the room thinking that he was going to cancel the tour, but in reality, he was just surprising them with the news of the Grammy nominations.

He just drops the news on everybody like, ‘So, you’re nominated for not one Grammy but five!’I didn’t even know what to say. I was crying, and then I was screaming and I just remember being extremely happy. I’m still on a high.”
