Justin Timberlake Cancels Remaining 2018 Tour Dates Due To Vocal Chord Damage

Published: Thursday 6th Dec 2018 by Sam

Numerically, Justin Timberlake‘s ‘Man Of The Woods Tour’ has been a huge success. However, the recent stretch of the global trek has been marred by a succession of postponed dates.

Now, under the advisement of his doctor, JT has been benched for the rest of 2018.

Full story below…

Just yesterday we reported that the singer had to reschedule the Oakland date of the arena tour – which came after several similar postponements.

In a message to fans this morning, he revealed that he has to hold off singing until January, thus all remaining dates for this year are being postponed also.

His statement read:

The news comes after a year of mixed fortunes for Timberlake.

His Super Bowl set and the album that followed bombed, yet he found his footing with the tour (although most of the tickets sold were before either transpired. But that’s another day another conversation).

Here’s wishing him a speedy recovery.

It’s actually more recent the 20/20 Experience Era. But yeah, he fûcked up with his white male privilege

Said yesterday and I’ll say it again today. Is it because of bruised “vocals” or bruised ego. This era has been his worst. A lot of it because people have finally opened their eyes and realized just how badly he treated Janet during the whole wardrobe malfunction (also because he was asked back to perform at this years Super Bowl) and because he is a culture vulture. Not surprising to me though.

Didn’t think he was worth viewing…??‍♂️

This is why lip syncing/pre-recording vocals are important — in particular w/ pop stars. They tend to have fragile voices.

You may have a point there.

I think you have a point – isn’t this why Celine has been lipping her biggest hits for years? To preserve her vocals so she can sing live and still sound the same all these years later? All that money and JT didn’t get this Memo (Matthew done told Bey this back in the day and her vocals will last for years to come). IJS…. ??‍♂️

Another issue is improper singing. I worked with a voice coach for YEARS before I actually got a consistent grasp on how to properly place tones to avoid throat strain. I kept unconsciously falling into bad vocal habits. Along with breath support, tone placement to avoid vocal cord grinding is one of the other major tenets of proper singing. A person may sound good, but they may be singing poor technically.

And yet another factor could be fatigue. Justin Timberlake puts on a high energy show, and it can be really hard to attempt to sing and dance at the same time. When singers lose their breath, they stop singing and start croaking out notes. So, some of it is (in Ronnie Devoe voice) “placement.”

It’s not just about pop stars voice. He’s toured a lot. They need breaks too.

His eras are pretty spaced out, so thats no excuse. Maybe if he was working like Mariah in the 90s with an album/era every year, or even Rhianna. Justin is mediocre, that’s all. Legends like Aretha, Patti, Diana, Tina, Stevie can all sing the same songs from their prime with ease. They never called out of shows. This is why the term LEGEND aint for everybody.
