This song becomes a global hit every holiday season, incredible. Critics always said Mariah didn’t have a “signature song” like I Will Always Love You or My Heart Will Go On, boy were they wrong. This song IS her signature classic. And unlike the other legendary vocal diva’s, she solely wrote the lyrics, co-composed the music (w/ Walter) & co-produced the song (w/ Walter). Amazing.
And she owns the masters and publishing rights for the song. That’s why Walter is kinda salty, cause he wants Mariah to give the green-light for this song to become commercialized by many companies. But she won’t allow them to. Proves she’s not really desperate for money after-all. She could easily score a multi-million dollar deal by allowing this song to be used by multiple companies.
