R. Kelly‘s lawyer has threatened to sue Lifetime if it doesn’t pull the plug on the docu-series it created to expose his alleged abuse of women and children.

Kelly’s lawyer, Brian Nix, fired off a legal letter — obtained by TMZ — warning the network that its “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary is packed with lies. Nix threatens to file a federal lawsuit Thursday — the same day Lifetime’s set to air the special — if the network doesn’t relent.
Their empty threats have done nothing to stop Lifetime from moving forward with the documentary.
I’m not sure if that statement Aaliyah’s mom released is real or not, but to say Aaliyah had “nothing” to do with R. Kelly is false.

I agree with everything you said except for the “abuse” part. I think you will find varying views among people on what constitutes abuse. Kelly was not physically abusing anyone nor has anyone ever claimed he physically abused them. The alleged abuse Kelly inflicts is mental, which is a very very gray area.
It is quite common in black families for teenagers to date older boyfriends and girlfriends and no one ever talks about it. Often times, the parents themselves were in the same situation (one was a teenager and the other was already an adult. They dated and then got married eventually). Even, in other countries / continents like the UK, Africa, China, and Japan IT IS QUITE THE NORM where the legal age of consent is 16, 11-12, 14, and 13 respectively. Again, no one ever talks about this even though that is the law in those places.
If my teenage daughter was dating a young man in his 20s who was rich, talented, and had the means to absolutely make her a star I would be okay with him dating her as long as he respects her and never physically abuses her. My parents were okay with me dating older men that were successful when I was a teenager too. That is what I believe happened here with Aaliyah’s parents. That does not make me or her parents pimps. It just means that our views on life are different than others. Often times, the people adamantly against a teenager dating an adult do not have children of their own so they are only qualified to speak on it from a technical perspective but certainly not from a life experience perspective.

New England Clam Chowder
Yield: 6 to 8 servings
Ingredients
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 medium onion, finely diced
2 celery stalks (reserve tender leaves) trimmed, quartered lengthwise, then sliced into 1/4-inch pieces
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken or vegetable stock
2 (10-ounce) cans chopped clams in juice
1 cup heavy cream
2 bay leaves
1 pound Idaho potatoes, cut into 1/2- inch cubes
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
Heat the butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and celery and saute until softened, mixing often. Stir in the flour to distribute evenly. Add the stock, juice from 2 cans of chopped clams (reserve clams), cream, bay leaves, and potatoes and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, stirring consistently (the mixture will thicken), then reduce the heat to medium-low and cook 20 minutes, stirring often, until the potatoes are nice and tender. Then add clams and season to taste with salt and pepper, cook until clams are just firm, another 2 minutes.
Serve it to the family and hope the like it!

Comprehension is key. Diane said she traveled with Aaliyah for everything that pertained to her CAREER; that means concert and promotional tours, radio interviews, etc. She never said she was with Aaliyah for every minute of her private and personal life.
