Adele Teases Comeback: “I’m Working”

Published: Sunday 24th Mar 2019 by Sam

In every which way, Adele is a commercially anomaly.

For, in an industry that is seeing sales shrink by the second, she has an uncanny ability to sell traditional units at a feverish rate. Case in point the colossal totals achieved by ’21’ and follow-up ’25’ in 2015.

Naturally, with every “Adele” release serving as a cultural event, all attention is on when the British belter will be back. Especially after the all-encompassing success of her last campaign – which wracked up 22 million sales worldwide and a global tour that generated $170 million.

Though notoriously private, the singer herself revealed that something is a’cooking.

Details below…

Currently in New York, the 30-year-old was spotted at a drag bar and hopped on stage to take part in a sing-off competition.

When handed the mic, she acknowledged that she was “I’m (here) out in New York working.”

It’s a small nugget, but a notable one. Given that the star is often fervent about not being active during her time off.

As such, with confirmation that new-new is on the way, we can’t but wonder when she’s gearing up to serve up. Whenever it is, it’s safe to assume that it’ll be a mega moment.

Are you excited for Adele’s comeback?

Your thoughts?

Honestly don’t see how she is huge and her black equivalent Jazmin Sullivan is not.

    • Interac March 24, 2019

I think it has everything to do with jazmine’s label RCA.

    • thanosoftitan March 24, 2019

I love my Black artists and I love supporting them, but Adele releases bops. And the thing is, half the time I’m singing along before I even realize it’s an Adele song.

I can only think of one Jazmine Sullivan song that gives me that vibe and that’s ‘Holding You Down.’

Whatever team Adele has in place to create her songs and select her singles do her a great service.

      • Sandra March 24, 2019

But to some others Jazmine has bops. I have all albums from both artists, But Jasmine says on heavy rotation whereas Adele doesn’t for me. i guess its down to how relatable you find the music

      • JOHNVIDAL March 24, 2019

That´s right. Adele HAS the songs. That´s thye key for her otherwordy (for todays standards) success. The singles from 21alone are the type of classics we don´t see anymore and will remain as such.

    • Sandra March 24, 2019

To be honest if Jasmine, KeKe Wyatt and Fantasia went the Whitney route and sang ballads and popular music they would probably be more successful, But to be black and be able to sing in 2019 or even 2010 isn’t as exotic as it was as its more exotic to have someone more European in stature having some singing ability and doing pop n b for people to be amazed at.
All that raw soul post the legends that have passed is too much for this generation.

Fans also want to have someone they can envision themselves as. There are more people that look closer to Adele globally than Jazmine Sullivan. The problem is that these people that look like Adele purchase singles, purchase albums, purchase tickets to shows. If you want Jazmine Sullivan to be as successful, she would have to change her target audience and y’all gone have to Purchase music and purchase tickets to her shows.

Lmfao did they just compare jazmine Sullivan to Adele!? F*** outta here!! Adele is on her own playing field!

    • Interac March 24, 2019

Jazmine is vocally superior though. Let’s talk about that……..

      • Irving Zarate March 24, 2019

        Your black bias is showing…

      • Interac March 24, 2019

Nope. The proof is in her catalog. She can do all sorts of incredible things with her voice, you just have to listen. Me stating that she is vocally superior has nothing to do with black or white, tori kelly and Jojo can sing circles around Adele as well.

      • Sandra March 25, 2019

@interac can we add Jessie J to that list. Jessie has shown vocals and vocal growth over the years and has tributes artists to perfection as well as written hit songs. Only issue is that her music is hit or miss.

  3. Jewel March 24, 2019

She is coming to drag Ariana by her ponytail off the charts

  4. AdeleFan March 24, 2019

Adele writes, produce and arrange her own music, so the only person to compare her too is herself. Jazmine is no comparison because they’re both fat.

    • Sandra March 24, 2019

But Jazmine does the same as well as writes with and for other artists.

    • Interac March 24, 2019

Jazmine has been writing for other people. Check her credits.

  5. Lol March 24, 2019

The only artist with the power to “stop the world” is her. Her last 2 albums sold 20+ million EACH. When Adele drops, it’s not an album it’s an event.

  6. Haterz Gon‘ Hate March 24, 2019

I mean ok…… No hate. She’s a phenomenon forsure, and sells like no other, but do people seriously stay gagging for new Adele? Is it really that deep? Her personality is much more interesting than her desperately safe ironing music. I think people get caught up in the spectacle of her comeback event – but her music doesn’t really leave anything changed in its wake.

    • Sandra March 24, 2019

I agree, Adele reminds me of Dido, it’s nice but safe music and i don’t see any growth. I’m all for the if it ain’t broke phrase, but sometimes adjustments can make things better, be it a new produces, co songwriter or even a push with vocals

    • Whoops ??‍♀️??? March 24, 2019

It sounds crazy to say considering how much she sells, but Adele has NO influence. No artistic impact or significance. Everything you said is on point, and I love Adele. I love her traditional approach to music and I love her personality, but her music itself is nothing groundbreaking. And neither is her voice. She has an okay voice and okay music and everybody forgets about it until she releases again, despite having bought the album. Its like her sales drive interest in her music, instead of her music inspiring her sales, because if it were the other way around, her music would be more important to everybody. And it never is.

  7. JOHNVIDAL March 24, 2019

LOL She described it perfectly with that “I´m working”. It´s not often for her lmao She literally sits for 3 years between albums.

  8. Yeh sure March 24, 2019

When Jazmin has a classic song like someone like you, then you can compare.. until then.. Adele is on a different level.

    • Interac March 24, 2019

“In love with another man.” While Adele’s song has a global impact, jazmine’s has a cultural impact.
