New Video: Emeli Sande – ‘Sparrow’

Published: Tuesday 26th Mar 2019 by Sam

Emeli Sande has unwrapped the video for comeback single ‘Sparrow.’

Lensed in New York, the Sarah McColgan production powerfully encompasses the singer’s goal with the song.

Sande earlier explained:

“Sparrows are always in flocks and do almost everything together. They’re a symbol of strength and protection in numbers. A reminder that we’re not alone and united we are powerful!  Seek strength in each other.”

As for how the semantics of the track manifested in its accompanying visual, she added:

“Each woman in this video has their own unique strength and there was a real sense of sisterhood felt throughout the shoot.”

Watch after the jump…

Simple, yet effective.

We remain excited for Sande’s third studio album. Are you?

Musically, this is great. But for marketing? I don’t see it.

This one song slays Adele’s entire discography. ???Emelie‘s Debüt had some bops like Daddy, Next to me and Heaven. But Long Live The Angels kinda lost me…. ??‍♂️

I started paying attention again on Kingdom Come, but Sparrow is a huge anthem that is a lot to digest at first – with a lot of layers – but take time to get into the lyric, melody and build of the song to climax and you realise this track as a whole lot of message and feeling that is missing from a lot of music today.

Multiple plays unpacks more and more of the track, I hope People don’t sleep on this track, it has the power to do more for people that any standard Adele heartbreak warble rinse and repeat magnolia-ness. ??‍♂️

Yeah shes amazing but tbh lyrically shes peaked and this songs generic this could be anyone singing
I think she is extremely beautiful and blessed but tbh id rather listen to jorja smith who is abit edgier for the times now
But u can never ever take away that legendary first album
Heaven and next to me are time capsule british songs
But im sure sparrow will set well with her core fanbase ans she will get the top 10 album and a nice successful tour out of it
May hear the song in a film or two
But she doesn’t excite or inspire me in anyway
Such a shame Ray Blk doesn’t have better songs as she has such potential but hey!
