Last summer brought with it the long-awaited release of her sophomore effort ‘KTSE.’
However, the project was arguably marred by the unorthodox and frustrating roll-out strategy orchestrated by its executive producer Kanye West – who placed it amidst a series of releases from his G.O.O.D Music imprint.
Looking to put the dramas of delays and incomplete songs behind her, Taylor revealed on Elton John‘s Rocket Hour’ radio show (on Apple Music) that her third album is “definitely” due this year.
Take a listen to the clip…
When quizzed on whether she “might” drop the new-new in 2019, Taylor replied:
“Yes, it’s not a might, it’s definitely gonna come out this year. I’m going to do whatever I have to do to make sure it get out.”
She went on to explain that she’ll be expanding her pool of collaborators beyond just Ye:
“This one is a little bit of everybody. I want to kind of explore a little bit more, get a couple more people involved, to really, really bring to life my vision, and not just be set on one set person, or one set sound.”
And while the singer’s publisized gripe about shut out from the Grammy nominations drew a polarizing response, she found a surprising supporter in Sir Elton. He told her:
“Your album is one of the best albums I heard last year. I am crazy, crazy, crazy for it. Everyone I’ve played [it] to is crazy about it. And it’s one of the best R&B records that I have heard.”
Here’s hoping this upcoming project receives the handling its predecessor deserved.
