2 Chainz Talks Squashing Ariana Grande Beef, Filming Their New Music Video, & More [Watch]

Published: Saturday 2nd Mar 2019 by Rashad

Just a month ago 2 Chainz was one of many Hip Hop artists slamming Ariana Grande for the Trap-inspired music video for her latest Hot 100 #1 single, ‘7 Rings.’

Fast forward a few weeks, the 41-year-old says a ring to her manager led to the face-to-face meeting with the Pop princess that forever changed their relationship and led to not one, but two collaborations.  The first was the ‘7 Rings’ remix and the second was ‘Rule the World,’ found on his latest effort ‘Rap or Go to the League.’

Sitting down with our friends at Genius, look inside to hear how the two squashed the beef and made beautiful music together:

On not reacting like Soulja Boy to Grande copycat accusations (click here to read more):

“What kinda points do I get off snapping on Ariana Grande or dissing her, I don’t get anything off that,” he said. “I can just see people saying that I’m being petty, and I can’t be that.”

On meeting Grande:

“In this particular case, I’ve known her manager for a very fucking long time,” 2 Chainz explained. “So they set it up so we could actually meet and talk face to face… I think that kind of changed everything because I started getting what was going on, having a clear understanding of what was going on. She was more or less saying that, ‘Well, yeah, I thought people knew I took it from you.’”

On creating their duet, “Rule the World”:

“What we did was organic because I didn’t come with that plan originally,” 2 Chainz said. “I just had a dope song, she heard it, we went from there and vice versa with the ‘7 rings’ joint.”

“I thought people knew I took it from you” Lmao, this bish is lying. His concept was not some iconic piece of pop culture that you would reference out of homage, and everyone would know. You think Ariana’s fans would know that that was 2 Chainz? No, they watched it and thought she invented music like they always do. And she was gonna happily take that credit until it was pointed out too many times. Now it’s, “I thought people knew I took it from you”. ? But she didn’t say that when she was tweeting people back while it was going on. She never went “Well duh, 2 Chainz idea is what I was nodding at”. You can’t just take anythiiing you want Ariana, without acknowledging your inspirations.
