Madonna is mounting a major media campaign to launch new album ‘Madame X’ and its lead single ‘Medellin.’

To ensure it receives the red-carpet treatment, Madge has teamed with MTV for an unprecedented global premiere event.

Full story below…

On April 24th at 9pm BST, the network will broadcast ‘MTV Presents Madonna Live & Exclusive: ‘Medellin’ Video World Premiere.’

The 30-minute special will air in 180 countries and across all of MTV’s digital platforms.

Renown British DJ Trevor Nelson will sit down with the Pop queen in London for an interview centered on the process of piecing together ‘Medellin’ and ‘Madame X’ as a body of work.

The definition of a worldwide affair, Maluma will appear live from Miami via satellite, as will host Sway Calloway from New York. The latter will be posing questions to Madge from a live Stateside audience. Similar setups are planned from Milan, Italy and São Paulo, Brazil.

Fans interested in attending the events can find out how to snag tickets via Madonna.com.

Speaking on the special, Bruce Gillmer, Global Head of Music & Talent, Viacom, and co-brand head, MTV International said in a statement:

“Madonna and MTV have been intrinsically tied since their respective youths. As Madonna continues to rule the world, we’re thrilled to be with her once again live from our Camden studios to world premiere her incredible collaboration with Maluma, ‘Medellin.’”

MTV, really? Can someone tell Madonna we’re in the 21st century…

Hmmm where was this rollout when Janet released her latest song? She’s been apart of MTV since her youth also.

I guess user likes and dislikes for the song are not significant to her because the song’s ratio of likes vs dislikes has too many dislikes already for it to ever be a hit. She already made the video and decided on it as her lead single. I think she could have chosen a better song. This song is safe but not a hit. I would give this same advice to all older artists:

Release a couple songs and see which one has the most likes before investing in a video and promoting it. There is no reason to promote a song that is not going to be a hit when there are probably better songs on the album. Mariah’s Caution suffered in sales because she chose to promote GTFO and With You as the lead singles when she had better songs on the album. Toni’s Sexx & Cigarettes suffered in sales because she chose Deadwood as the lead single instead of the obvious choice Long As I Live as the lead single. By the time 2nd and 3rd singles / videos get released it is TOO LATE to convince consumers to buy your albums unless that lead single was a hit.

Madonna has always done what Madonna wants. She could have played it extra safe and put out Confessions 2.0 but she doesn’t repeat a sound and moves onto something new. I guarantee by the end of year you’ll hear multiple mainstream artists with Maluma collabs. I also think Madge DGAF about radio bc they’ll never play an artist of her age. She’s simply making the music she wants to make at this point and her crown has been secured since the late 80s so there nothing left to prove. I don’t think this is anywhere near her best but it’s a good summer poolside bop and a grower after a few listens

I agree, Madonna and Beyoncé are at a point where radio are paying them dust and they do not build their conceptual album eras and promotional roll outs with Radio in mind. This mindset enables them to think and work with their teams to create beyond the confines and usual measures the normal Pop Stars need to adhere to. ? Haterz gon’ hate but they will deal with this reality.

    MTV still has viewers?

I wonder why she didn’t just announce her tour and „surprise“ released the album with the announcement. She won’t get new fans anyways, as the younger audience does not care for her and the gays will go anyways

  8. Ty April 18, 2019

She was better off doing Facebook live, Instagram live or Twitter Q&A what audience is she going for with MTV? Cause she is not going to attract a younger audience period!! She needs to find more inventive ways to promote her album. See beyonce for inspo.

But the real question is: what is the age demographic of MTV? You would assume Madges people already checked MTV’s audience demographic penetration and didn’t just ignorantly opt to partner without fact based data.

Moreso, Madge has been around so long, across 3 decades, does she need to target the kids on Twitter and Facebook? Her fan base consistently supports her touring efforts and is evidently loyal. Her bag is secure even if she only ever sang her greatest hits and toured for the next 5 years.

    • de Sascha April 24, 2019

I don’t think she wants to attract a younger audience, she just wants do it.
Do you really think people in their 30s/40s &50s never heard of the internet and wait until Madonna premieres a new video.
I don’t even belive that the maturer audience is watching MTV anymore.
