As reported, Normani‘s planned performance with Sam Smith at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards was unfortunately pulled after the British singer injured his vocal chords while touring abroad.
While gutted that the pair wouldn’t be rocking the stage together, many were hopeful 22-year-old Normani would press on and rep their duet ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ herself.
Supporters of the singer even took to Change.org to create a petition demanding it; a petition that, as at writing, has been signed over 2000 times.
It remains to be seen if producers for the May 1st ceremony will take heed to the fan requests. But, as it stands, the official word is that the Fifth Harmony star won’t be performing.

Girl shut up! All 5 of them were put in the group, but came on the show as solo acts. Just because the X Factor doesn’t think she can be solo makes it legit. And so what if he has sold millions. There are a lot of alleged singers out that has sold millions of records.
Yeah she came on the show as a solo singer, and got rejected. That’s why she was put into a group. She could make it as a solo singer, but so could millions of other singers. There’s nothing special about her… She needs to write herself a hit.
idk about all that, but I do know that sam has not had a hit peak this high on the hot100 since his first album era 4-5yrs ago. those are facts.

this woulda been the perfect opportunity to showcase her as a solo artist with a medley with her few songs. how are new artist supposed to get exposure if the focus is always on the existing artist? especially when it comes to black r&b acts.
They can have Sam on screen. Normani on stage .that isn’t fair to either record company…to lose the whole show……

THIS is how you know you’re on your way to becoming a force to be reckoned with. All this outcry for her not performing anymore shows how much people want to see her, in her element. Not since Beyonce has there really been an artist people have been thirsting for in regards to performing at an award show. Normani is THAT B*TCH PERIOD.

Why would they let Normani perform she has done nothing to earn that. She was going to perform because of the song she did with Sam Smith. Do something first, number 1 single or get nominated by yourself before you get that spotlight. Shes talented but not there yet. Keep grinding Normani and your day will come. It’s just not today
but thats what performances on award shows are for when in regards to new artist, to showcase what it is they have to offer to gain a bigger audience.
She needs her own song or nomination to perform.
