Las Vegas is fast emerging as a magnet for some of music’s biggest names, as the industry at large shape-shifts.
The latest reportedly looking to heat up Sin City is Pop star Katy Perry.
According to the Review Journal, the singer visited The Colosseum At Caesars Palace late last week.
She is said to have been on-location for an hour and was joined by Caesars Entertainment officials to discuss a possible residency.
Any such deal would come at an opportune time for both parties.
In June Caesars will be waving goodbye to Celine Dion, whose live concert series at the venue has been a mega-seller.
For Perry, there are a few benefits. On the surface, she has open availability (sans her American Idol commitments) after wrapping up her ‘Witness Tour’ last year. And with the latter era being the definition of hit-and-miss, a turbo-charged Vegas show could be what the comeback Dr ordered. At a bare minimum, it’s a consistent check too.
Should she venture to Vegas, she’ll join the likes of Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, and Janet Jackson. All of whom are contributing to a refreshed perception of such engagements.
