Country musicians from near and far have looked on as the African-American superstar Lil Nas dominates the genre with his feel-good jam ‘Old Town Road’ in the United States.
This week, he has done the same in the United Kingdom.
Full report below…
‘Road’ is the highest-selling single in the United Kingdom on this week’s Official Singles Chart thanks to support he garnered from fans in the market and so, as a result, stands tall at #1.
I cannot believe how amazing my song is doing on the UK charts. I’m so thankful to everyone who has got behind Old Town Road. I’m still blown away by all the support for the track – thank you for listening!
Quite interestingly, he dominates the chart exactly seven years to the month Nicki Minaj did the same with her sophomore album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’…an album Nas supported on social media during his time as a prominent member of the rapper’s fan base.
Can’t believe that lil Nas X has became a rapper and got a number 1 song all off the back of a Nicki Minaj fan account ?
