‘American Idol’ Renewed After Katy Perry Boosts Ratings

Published: Monday 13th May 2019 by David

Katy Perry’s star power is working wonders for the ‘American Idol’ brand.

Good news below…

Perry was paid a monumental sum of money to launch the show’s ABC revival and has learned that the connection she has built with its audience has given the entity good reason to renew it for a third season (its 18th overall).

Past seasons of the series saw Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez stand as judges and carry the series alongside the likes of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and launch the careers of Fantasia, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks and Ruben Studdard.

Stay tuned for more details.

American idol doesn’t produce superstar no more they win then they are forgotten

They’re more known than any other singing competition.

The Voice hasn’t produced ONE name people remember or had a hit and they are already on like season 18 and debuted in 2011, so least Idol has some talent and winners who are award winners and critically acclaimed!

American Idol fell off in the late 2000’s. The ratings may be good, but I couldn’t name a winner after Jordin Sparks. The focus seems to be on the judges, instead of the actual talent. Millions tune in and vote weekly, but don’t bother to purchase music from the winners or runner-ups. Early winners such as Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood and Daughtry were lucky because they’re taken seriously as artists. Jennifer Hudson, while not the most musically successful has had an outstanding career as well.
