Justin Timberlake may not have been on the main ballot for the 2019 Songwriters Hall Of Fame, but he’s still set to be honored.
For, it’s just been announced that JT will be presented with the Contemporary Icon award at the 50th annual ceremony next month.

Per organizers, the award is bestowed upon “a songwriter-artist who has attained an iconic status in pop culture.”
On Timberlake’s salute, SHOF chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement:
“Justin is extraordinary. Like Michael Jackson and George Michael before him, he’s turned pop music into great art and made three or four of the most influential albums of the last 15 years. How? He knows the secret is extraordinary songs. He and Timbaland have defined an era.”
Linda Moran, SHOF President and CEO, added that JT is “multitalented and multifaceted, respected, admired and beloved by his fans and peers alike.”
The honor comes on the heels of the singer’s mammoth ‘Man Of The Woods Tour,’ which – despite its like-titled album underperforming – was a success.
Timberlake, who is in the studio working on new music, follows Lady Gaga on the list of notable names who’ve been presented with the Contemporary Icon award.
The 50th Annual Songwriters Hall Of Fame takes place on June 13th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Inducted on the night will be the likes of Missy Elliott and Dallas Austin.
