Beyonce and Jay-Z surprised fans this time last year with the digital drop of joint album ‘Everything Is Love.’
Released under the alias of The Carters, the set was spearheaded by sole single ‘APESH*T’ – the video for which was famously shot in The Louvre in Paris.
A year on, the power couple continue to reap the rewards from the LP (which was unleashed in conjunction with their ‘On The Run II Tour’).

In the latest round of certifications by the RIAA, it’s been confirmed that ‘APESH*T’ has been awarded the Platinum honor – for selling 1 million equivalent units.

Moving forward, it’s set to be a busy window for Queen Bey – who’ll be hitting the promo trail for ‘The Lion King.’
Starring as Nala, the diva will serve as an integral part of the film’s musical push – performing songs from the original and leading the charge of new material crafted in support of the live-action remake.

L I E S ! on what universe did this record sell one million units? i swear, money really does buy industry accolades. their joint album was yet another sub par effort that pulls the rug back on the FLUFF that is their “royal” image. neither of them truly push the units that industry articles and charts suggest they do. I do not for five seconds accept the streaming numbers for Jay Z’s 4:44 effort or Beyonce’s “Lemonade” project. TIDAL is used a smoke & mirrors cover up for their less than impressive listens, spins and contemporary sales. YES, both entertainers are well known and idolized, BUT that level of notoriety does not translate into massive album or single units sold for either of them. seriously. their audience reach simply isnt on the level to push millions of units of hundreds of millions of streams within a short period of time. its takes 3-4 years for their more recent projects to physically hit REALISTIC platinum or double platinum status. its the TRUTH.

I use to think Jay z was the one dragging beyonce down but it’s the other way round. Beyonce is dragging Jay z down. If he did this song or this album (everything is love) with Rihanna, or justin Timberlake or pharrell or drake or even lady gaga , this song will probably go top 10 and the album would have reached number 1.

It doesn’t matter how long it took the song to go platinum, all that matters is that it DID go platinum. Some songs never get there while some others get there quick and the fizzle out just as quickly. Regardless of whether it takes 1 day or 1 year, platinum is platinum.
